Hi,
I live in the UK, near Bristol and want to buy Harvoni to treat my hepc GT 1a.
Has anyone here from the UK successfully sourced Harvoni through the buyers club?
Thanks Dominic

Hi Dom,

It is entirely legal to import personal medication to the UK. Please see:

fixhepc.com/getting-treated/how-to-do-it...-regulations.html#UK

For possible sources, please see:

Or the quick and easy way:

Thanks for the encouragement, it seems quite straightforward.
The only part I dont have is a prescription. Someone suggested I could use GP2U.
Do you know if this would work for a UK buyer?

Hi Dom, I got my 1st script from GP2U from Dr Freeman and my 2nd script from Dr Debasis at MonkMed (they work together in Redemption). Both made it through UK customs just fine, although I find the Indian/UK time difference easier to negotiate.

That's right. But you need to get your blood tests done in the UK, in particular to show Dr Freeman (or any other Dr) what Genotype you have. Presumably you have all that already?

The usual scenario with "NHS Choices" is that you get diagnosed with Hep-C, you go through a long series of consultations with one or more Drs who tell you (unless you are F4) that you have the "choice" of waiting either a long time or a very long time to get treated.

With FixHepC or Monkmed, you have the choice of getting treated immediately.

Your choice...

Thanks Vororo

Looks like my best route is with GP2U.
Im an old timer, got hepc in the 1980's, diagnosed in 2007, Ive done the 48 weeks of interferon and ribavirin and that was not a good decision. Not only did not work but it took another three years to get over the side effects of the treatment. Since then 2009 ive been on chinese herbs and hardly feel any symptoms from the hep.

But of course the NHS see me as doing fine and so put me at the bottom of the list...

Hi LondonGirl,
How come you need two scripts, dont you get the full course on a single script?

Hi Dom,

The U.K. allows you to import 3 months at a time, usually if you require longer (24 weeks) treatment you would get a repeat script initially and just do as two shipments.

Hi again Dom, Yes, Gaj is correct. My viral load was coming down slower than most peoples, so I extended treatment to give it my best shot. Thankfully, due to MonkMeds' superfast delivery, I have the new meds ready for the end of the first 12 weeks, so there's no break in treatment.

I know it's all a bit much to take in at first, but if you go with a proven reliable supply chain such as MonkMed/FixHepC/Redemption things should go very smoothly and you will get great support.

btw I sent you a message on chat when I saw you there the other day concerning prescriptions, not sure if you saw it or not?

The only problem with Twinvir in the UK is that most GPs & NHS like to know you're getting licensed meds from a manufacturer they know should you want monitoring on the NHS. I know so many people have done so well on this medicine and a good reliable service too, but private monitoring here is extortionate in price, so if UK patients can't do it all privately, Cipla or Mylan (the former I know has a plant in Kent UK, think poss. Mylan too) - are seen as a the 'more sensible option' (my GPs words) .This may not be the case with all Drs but it is a struggle to get NHS monitoring here on generic medicines, unfortunately.

Hi LondonGirl,

Then I stand corrected, in UK you are better off with the meds she described.

Not true - or at least it does not correspond with my experience to date of the NHS. I was on 12 weeks Twinvir from 15 November 2015 to 6 February 2016 inclusive and have been monitored by the NHS throughout. My local NHS hospital did my VL tests at 4 weeks and 8 weeks into treatment, and at EOT. They have also said that they will do my VL monitoring at both 12 weeks and 24 weeks post-EOT - although they have refused to do a VL test at 4 weeks post-EOT.

This is precisely the same monitoring regime I would have been under had I been on the official brand Harvoni prescribed by the hospital itself - neither more nor less. I have also had LFTs done by my GP. At no point has anyone I have encountered in the NHS - GP, hepatology nurse or consultant - shown the slightest interest in whether I was on licensed on unlicensed generics.

I do recall that Alsdad had problems had problems getting NHS monitoring at his hospital (the Manchester Royal?) but I seem to recall that that was because of the especially ferocious anti-generic policy of that particular hospital and not because he was on unlicensed rather than licensed generics. I further recall that he did get some blood tests from his GP though.

The NHS is a very large organisation - as everyone in the UK knows, it is the third largest employer in the world after the Chnese army and the Indian railways - and it appears to be not entirely monolithic - different hospitals and GPs in different areas seem to follow slightly different policies - the postcode lottery.
