David Bowie died of liver cancer 8 years 6 months ago #7750
| I was gutted when I read the news he'd died yesterday I'm a huge fan since I was a kid his music was the background of my early years. I thought he looked incredible for his age it came as such a shock as he'd kept it to himself how ill he was. Very, very sad. Just found this musical tribute from Rick Wakeman on the beeb. It's kind of fitting to me because the first album I ever bought was a David Bowie one, and the first live gig I ever attended was Rick Wakeman. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03f8qql | |

September 24th, 1972, Memphis, Tennessee The best damn concert I have ever experienced. Same as above-I wish I could remember more of it..... He was a genius and left the world a better place. At least you remember the date and where you were......I saw him in Tucson with my then GF who I remember started to walk toward the stage with her arms open wide. Security got her before she could reach the stage. She loved him and was mesmorized by the song that he was singing. Naturally, I do not remember. As the saying goes " If you remember the 70's, you did not have a good time". As you state, he was a genius and a showman. contracted Gen 1a in the 70's, dx in 2007...ast 27 to 35...alt 43 to 96...vl 1.2 mil to 8.6 mil. biopsy F-2 (2012)..pre tx results 1/23/16 ast 32, alt 46, vl 3.1 mil tx started 2/11/16.... lab results 2/24/16 ast 18, alt 18, vl <15 IU/ml 28 days later.............lab results 3/9/16 ast 21, alt 21, vl UND 56 days later.............lab results 4/6/16 ast 20, alt 22, vl UND 139 days later...........lab results 6/29/16 ast 28, alt 30, vl UND...EOT SVR24 The following user(s) said Thank You: mgalbrai | |

| So very sad Alsdad & Sirch. Been a fan since very young & earliest albums, could hardly bring myself to reply here at first I was so upset. He gave us so much. Mick Ronson guitarist from Spiders from Mars also died young from liver cancer and Trevor Boulder bassist from SFM died of Pancreatic cancer young too The epidemic for baby-boomers is rearing it's torturous ugly head I fear. The need to test people born pre 1965 has never been greater. So if DB died of liver cancer are we all thinking the obvious? . So many famous people have hep c I always feel its such a shame that more isnt done to promote the cause through fame and its power. However its very personal as well ...the dilemma Geno1a 35years fibrosis 2 or 3 different results from different hospitals ?? 24weeks mesochem sof/led as unsure of fibrosis status. currently UND. Lou Reed died of hepc-related liver failure. 80% of liver cancers are caused by hepb or c. David Bowie made no secret of his drug usage in the first half of his career (I believe the move to Berlin, that spawned the 'Low' and 'Heroes' albums was, in part, to get away from the drugs scene). | Yep, Bowie was actually insane before he left the US if you watch the interview on the Dick Cavet show before he left the US its clear he was out of his mind I don't believe he was a IV drug user. No, I don't think Bowie had Hep C if he did I can see why he'd say nothing the man was not someone who wanted to share that part of his life with the public. Bowie stopped using prior to Berlin and yes Low and the three albums in that followed all came about as he stopped using. He got into AA around the 80's he was clean for at least 30 years or more. I met Iggy a few times in Ireland in the late 90's he looked as well as someone like him can:) Sob/Dac from Oct 29 2015 Geno 1b Fiberscan 9.9 Pre treatment Fiberscan 7.4 week 10 VL 1.3 million pre treatment Week 2.5 VL 96 Week 5.5 VL 17 Week 10 VL UD SVR 3 UD SVR 16 UD Cured: All liver functions in normal ranges. |

| David Bowie didn't look fine at all recently, can't bear to watch that film of him lying in that hospital bed, great song but so painful, visually I can't watch it.
