This is a perfectly good reason to do the test. One question that gets forgotten in medicine is this: "What do you think it could be?" I wasn't taught to ask this in medical school, it was a bit of wisdom from a skilled clinician. The significance is that if I don't ask that question, and treat that concern I might get the diagnosis 100% correct, and the treatment 100% correct, but have failed to address the real concern that brought the patient to my door. YMMV | |

| Well I'm SVR 16 and I feel like I am 20 again, I just don't look it (55, and a few grey hairs) I feel so good, I will be shocked if I relapse. With these new Sofosbuvir combination treatments, it is a medical breakthrough comparable to the Polio vaccine. Dr. Freeman has said, SVR 12 is 99% and SVR 24 is 99.9%. So get checked at 12, 24 & 52 weeks. After one year, you are officially cured, I have never seen anything indicating a relapse after 52 weeks. Thanks, Doctor. That makes sense. I'm not overly concerned, especially as the stats for SVR12 are so well established, but out of curiosity, I might request some LFTs the next time I see my GP. This is a long-term process, so a little more information can't hurt, especially if it is quick and not too draining on the public purse. G4, F4, cirrhosis. If you're in the US, there are private labs which offer this service. LFTs are an inexpensive 'out of pocket' test. Weighing one's health against public largess is usually a no win equation.
