I appreciate it :)
I am honestly a bit shocked that I am contemplating taking chemicals at this point. And quite surprised too that science seems to have managed to come up with something really useful for a change. Lets just hope there aren't too many hidden implications.

At least I can keep drinking my Dandelion tea during treatment.
Big question is though what about "medical" marijuana with the tx? Is that contraindicated?
Seems like it would help with a lot of the reported sides.

Hi FlyingFox,

If you are going to be taking Daclatasvir then probably better to avoid grass....ahem, "medical" marijuana per below link (4th item listed). My body is a temple until at least the end of April. B)

fixhepc.com/forum/experts-corner/108-dac...ractions-cyp3a4.html

More seriously, while we need to consider drug interactions I would also recommend that everyone consider whether anything they are taking whether legal, illegal, herbal, over the counter or prescription is necessary for the relatively short time we are treating. Anything that we put into our bodies has to be processed by either our liver or kidneys or both, which will already be trying to process the meds, dispose of dead viral particles and repair the damage that the virus caused over the years. So the less extra workload we put on these organs during treatment the better able they will be to perform these tasks.

Gaj gets off soapbox and goes to find some polish for his halo.

Thanks for that link GAJ (and Doc Freeman). Exactly what I needed to know. I'll give up all my herbs for the duration just in case. Bit sad about the grapefruits though because my tree will have hundreds of them by then.

I'm not a broad spectrum luddite really...I do love my computer, though I'm not sure it's good for me.

I'm missing the grapefruit too.

Oh, and my mobile 'just makes phone calls' and the home computer is mostly used as a music server with no screen or keyboard attached......but you'll only seperate me from my iPad with a chainsaw.

Questions about herbs/supplements:
In general taking most every herb or supplements is not advised while on generic Harvoni, however what about drinkng Dandelion tea? It seems to calm me and from what I understand it can reduce inflammation and can soothe liver.....or is this an old wives tale?
If you can drink it how much is too much and what is consdeted moderate?
Thank you.

Medications changed by the liver (Cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) interacts with DANDELION
I don't see how it has a calming effect. It is mostly used as a diuretic. I know you'll read alot of stuff on the internet saying it helps inflammation but my research on the studies show it isn't good for anything but a possible diuretic.

I drank a cup of Roast dandelion tea every morning as usual on Harvoni. Didn't stop me clearing, and as it is my morning cuppa I decided I didn't want to give it up.
I think it does me a lot of good personally. It is comforting isn't it, and much more soothing to the digestion in the AM than tea or coffee.
