That's comparing apples and oranges. $3000 is the wholesale price of just the battery unit, $15,000 is retail for battery + solar panels + installation.
I agree that Australian prices are regularly absurd compared to overseas for many items even allowing for the weak Aussie dollar atm.

I have two solar installations on my house (2010 and 2015) and the second is bigger and cost less.

I was more reflecting on how many in business will change what the market will bear .....

Gilead has heavily pushed a TV spot called “I am Ready,” which features graying men and women declaring that they’re finally prepared to confront, and overcome, hepatitis C. As rain melts into sunshine, off-screen narrators declare, “I am ready to put hep C behind me” and “I am ready to be cured.”

Well, the ads are a business expense-straight off the top. Gilead needs to keep mining. I find them very offensive. Everywhere you look, magazines, tv, websites, bus benches. You would think it cured erectile dysfunction instead of saving lives. Who would ever have thought something like this would be allowed to happen?
I haven't kept up with any politics in the U.S. this election cycle. I watched the March 4th Republican debate yesterday with my 11th grade Civics students. It could have been a SNL skit.

There is another ad at the bottom of the page Targeted marketing at its best. They even have moving parts....
