| As Bowie had more or less removed himself from the public eye most of the pictures I thought circa before his death circa 2013 he looked he'd aged well hence the shock we all felt when he died. Yes, I agree LG the last video is some what haunting, there is no doubt he looked rather sick everything I've read suggested he was working right up to his death. Personally, I think Bowie's best work seemed was in the past, latest album not with standing The US period Young Americans-Berlin Low/heroes/Lodger followed by Scary Monsters were in my opinion his best work ,Lets Dance was massive. He was super smart business wise,he had his own ISP sold his the rights for X amount for X years he saw what the music business would be long before anyone else. Genius. Yes, there was Ziggy Stardust the icon, David Bowie the pop/rock star and also David Jones the family man. The last was kept very private. .....perhaps we should respect that aspect of David and his family unless they choose to make a public statement at some point? I was just going off the photos I'd seen such as: www.newsmax.com/TheWire/birthday-david-b...015/01/09/id/617499/ And even these, released after he died: www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/davi...hoto-smiling-7162645 I remember sometimes thinking "Christ, if I even make it that far, I hope i look half as well as him!" But I suppose photos (especially of celebrities) can be deceptive. We know now just how seriously ill he really was. I started this thread mainly because I thought the cause of his tragic death was somewhat pertinent to us on here. Maybe we should just celebrate his life and art now. I was privileged to be in attendance at this gig: | |

| Al, I am in full agreement with how he looked up too a 2014 I thought like you he looked so well hence the absolute shock at his death. I honestly have no clue if he had Hep C its only when you said liver cancer and suggested Hep C I thought about the link, I don't think he was a IV user. Lastly, I don't think he had to tell anyone about his health regardless of the cause, I saw on another forum trying to link him to some awful shit none of which i think is true, sadly these days people don't respect the dead. I don't mean you Al I understand your point. Yes, to celebrating his life:) Sob/Dac from Oct 29 2015 Geno 1b Fiberscan 9.9 Pre treatment Fiberscan 7.4 week 10 VL 1.3 million pre treatment Week 2.5 VL 96 Week 5.5 VL 17 Week 10 VL UD SVR 3 UD SVR 16 UD Cured: All liver functions in normal ranges. | I agree re David Bowie. my point though, is about the rise in liver cancer, particularly for those age 50+ A dear friend has just been disgnosed and yes, he does have HepC. I didn't know. Unfortunately, he slipped through the NHS net, as he was diagnosed when it was non A/B. His consultant told him he 'didn't need to see him any more, as he seemed well'. The hospital failed to contact him for many years and administrative errors were at fault. Now, he is very ill. The baby-boomer message needs to get through, those born pre 1965. Many people who have taken iv drugs, have more support with testing It's my belief that there were many other routes, non hygenic medical practices for a start - everywhere! School vaccinations, 70s dentists (shudder), not taught to avoid others spilled blood, blood brothers/sisters fad Young offenders places where they all did home tattoos , home done tattoos! prisons ... Blood transfusions! Stigma is a terrible thing, it must be challenged. There was once a young guy who volunteered to serve his country. And then there was one who got drafted. And then another who stay up late at night listening to music with his friends. And then another become a rock star. And then there was the one who needed a filling in his tooth. And then there was one whose Mom was sick. And then there was one who put "I Love You" on his arm. And then there was one do didn't do anything. They all got hepatitis C. What's the difference? Diagnosed Jan 2015: GT3, A0+F0/F1. Fatigue + Brain-Fog. Started Sof+Dac from fixHepC 10-Nov-2015. Damn! My high horse just threw me out of the saddle. Thanks LondonGirl, a very timely reminder that while respecting the privacy of others in times of grief is important, we also need to ensure that the message about HCV potentially impacting anybody isn't stifled by the stigma attached to its association with IDU. .....and blood brothers? Like the cowboy and indian in that western film in the early 60s? Yep, everyone in my gang. Hadn't remembered that in over 50 years.
