Hi Rudy, There are non-invasive, accurate tests that can accurately determine liver fibrosis levels. Get one and start treatment. My enzyme levels went from over 200 to 12 & 15 after a month on Harvoni. Good luck, Mike This email address is being protected from spambots. Hi Rudy My enzyme levels were like yours for many years and like mgalbrai’s dropped to the teens within weeks of starting treatment. It is never to late to start treatment and put a halt to any damage the virus might be causing. Good luck S Diagnosed: 2001 GT1a , HCV since mid-70's. Hi Rudy, The high AST/ALT are relatively meaningless and will get better with treatment. Your low platelets and APRI do suggest you're probably F4 but here's the thing:
Once you're cured the only long-term thing would be the occasional liver ultrasound to keep an eye on it for HCC (there is a 3% per annum risk in people with cirrhosis). YMMV

Hello Rudy, as Dr James said "Treatment will arrest the progress of the disease and allow some recovery". There is very strong evidence that the liver reverses much of the damage once the virus is eliminated, and many patients reported that their F4 level was reduced to F2 or F1 in the months following cure. So it's not too late.

If you start the process of obtaining meds today then you will be able to start treatment and see progress within weeks. My mental outlook completely changed once I had the meds. My anxiety and brain fog began to lift and things got exponentially better. Good luck. I will be looking forward to reading about your journey.
