Sof/Dac 84 or 90 Dosage? 8 years 5 months ago #2358
Hello I received my meds yesterday. I bottle Sofosburvir I bottle of Daclastavir. However, there were 84 capsules in each bottle. I was expecting 90 capsules'. On the prescription my Dr. wrote 90 caps and same on the order form. I'm just wondering if 84 is the correct dosage or do I need 90 for the whole course? 90 is written on both my bottles but I didn't count until today (day 25) and 90 it was. I was planning to stop at day 84 anyway (if I'm clear) and then ... give the rest away? NSW Australia. Genotype 1b 30+ years, F0-F1, VL 91,000 Feb 2015 (740,000 in 2010), Tx naive. Ordered Sof/Dac from Buyers Club 21 Sept, received 14 Oct. Virus UNDETECTED at 3 weeks AND 12 weeks (EOT) AND SVR4 AND SVR12 AND SVR24. A thousand thankyous to Dr James and the amazing FixHepC team.

Hello Joy, This was my error. Before I knew more I knew less. Mesochem supplied in a standard quantity of 36 g (90 x 400 mg) so I made the incorrect assumption that it was 90 days treatment, rather than 84. To be totally compliant with the guidelines we now use 84 days. If it was me I would reserve the extra 6 to resume treatment in the (unlikely) event of recurrence. That will minimise any delay while further medication is shipped to you. Over treating for 6 days should not cause any harm, but given the recent Gecko data the 8 weeks works well for most people we are probably overtreating by quite a bit with the 84 day course. The trouble is we can only ever know we under treated.... YMMV
