Is this "Human Pegvirus" HepC's little brother? 8 years 6 months ago #5416
I've read and re-read this article and not sure of the significance of it, so hoping maybe Dr. Freeman can explain it in human terms: hepatitiscnewdrugs.blogspot.com/ It seems to talk about this "human pegvirus" being associated with people who have hepc. Does that mean, its another co-virus of some kind that a lot of us also carry? If so, is it also doing bad things, or is that just totally unknown at this time. I assume its probably not good. And is there some significance to the prefix "Peg" in the name? Thanks. Reading the article it seems that people who have hep c are more likely to have this as well. That may just mean it is transmitted by similar means. It seems they don't know yet whether it is harmful or not which is why they are studying it more closely. We are hosts to many viruses at various times, some harmful, some not and some may even be beneficial to us. news.sciencemag.org/2013/05/friendly-vir...-us-against-bacteria G G3a since '78 - Dx '12 - F4 (2xHCC) 24wk Tx - PEG/Riba/Dac 2013 relapsed 24wk Tx - Generic Sof/Dac/Riba 2015/16 relapsed 16wk Tx - 12/01/17 -> 03/05/17 NS3/NS5a + Generic Sof SVR7 - 22/06/17 UND SRV12 - 27/07/17 UND SVR24 - 26/10/17 UND | |

Ironically, I found the article below very interesting - likely caught my attention because it is more immediately relevant to my condition. Talks about intervention for pathological vascular developments which occur with cirrhosis and which frequently comprise a serious medical complication. I guess for others, like myself, its findings are too late - however I am pleased to see the possibility of this research bringing relief to others. Advanced with HCV I experience the possibility of a variceal bleed or sepsis as prospects causing most apprehension. Fem. Gen 1a.18.4 kPa. IL28b - CT. Cirrhosis 4B/c. MELD 11. Portal Hypertension.
