Q's about timing of blood pressure pill and meds 8 years 3 months ago #8429
Hi - I am still unsure about when to take my blood pressure meds. I was told by my nurse to always take the sof/led first. I take my sof/ led in the morning around 9 am, sometimes a bit earlier about 8 am. (Does it matter if it is not the EXACT same time?) How does Amlodipine blood pressure medication affect sof/led ? I have had conflicting advice about WHEN to take the blood pressure medication. Presently I am taking it four hours after the sof/led, so about lunchtime. But I don't like that as my blood pressure is already high in the morning. And it's a bit of a double whammy as the hospital has cut my blood pressure dose to half, so it is now 5mg and not very effective anyway. ( In fact a triple whammy as sof/led raises blood pressure also.) I do have a hospital appt in two weeks but it would be good to get some advice now, thanks. Geno 1a, F1, tx naive, had it 35 yrs. Hi Debs I have had elevated BP since peg/inf I was on Atacand but a month ago switched to Coversyl because it is green flagged and the Atacand was yellow on the drug interactions charts I'm also on only 5mg and I realised that my huge Public Hospital which I attended on Friday didn't even check my bp! In fact I think I too will book with my local GP for a check up thanks Debs I have had a banging headache since 4am needed a dose of panadiene forte and enough water to get a camel across the Simpson Desert Defs time to get some advice re these issues will follow this thread ty for starters it Xx Ariel Gen 1a Peg/inf/riba 2012(!) stop @ Wk 43 potassium low +issues (rlps week 4 post tx, VL120,000) scnds eg. adenomas. pre sof/led VL 240,000 Fibsc F0 Day 25 <30 Day 32 UND Week 10 UND EOT UND ALT11AST17GGT19 SVR4 UND ALT10 AST16 GGT13 SVR8 UND ALT <9 AST16 GGT15 SVR12 UND ALT14 AST19 GGT12 Bili 5 EOT +18 ALT13 AST20 GGT9 Bili 5 EOT +21 ALT11AST15 Cured SVR12 Dysplasia Adenomas RemvdAug '16 SVR24 UND ALT11AST16 ColonoscopyClear Nov17 LumpectomyClear ‘18 LithotripsyCytoscopyBiopsy 4/18 The following user(s) said Thank You: Debs

Getting your local GP to tinker with BP Meds is a great idea. Show him/her the interactions checker and it should be simple. Happy to sort it online if you buy a BP machine. Taking the Amlodipine first and the Sof an hour or two later would be fine too if you want to separate them. YMMV

Hi Deb and Ariel I take sof/dac in the morning about 6am, it is high summer in in Aus and the sun rises at 5.45am in Victoria. I have an early start to the day generally after only a few hours sleep. Pre Tx I would sleep for 10-12 hours nightly. I am taking Irbesartan for high blood pressure which according to the drug interaction chart comes up coded green with no interaction expected & this was confirmed by Doc James. I have begun to delay taking this med till bout 9am. Like you I am concerned about my blood pressure as something feels different now & I will have it checked on Thursday when I meet my new specialist for the first time. I am day 38.
