Creatine is the most studied supplement of all time. It works. There is evidence that some are non responders but most usually are. There is a ton of info out there. Stay away from the fancy stuff that doesn't work and stick to Creatine Monohydrate. 5 to 10g a day. No need to load it. Back in the day they say to take 20g a day for 5 days but new research says no need to. Hi Tommy, Are you aware of any studies of creatine supplementation while on DAA treatment for HCV? When you refer to non responders is that in reference to HCV treatment while on creatine supplementation? Can you please provide any links you have to either of these scenarios? I meant non responders to the creatine supplement. The way creatine works shouldn't interfer with hep c meds. It can cause stomach aches, diarrhea, or both in a very small percentage of people. It will most likely cause weight gain to. It pulls water into your muscles, which causes water-weight gain and makes muscles look bigger initially. (You don’t actually gain muscle fibers until you work out.) I would always run anything you take through your doctor. Most recommendations I see from most hep c websites etc say stop taking everything but A multi vitamin mineral supplement and vitamine D when on treatment. Thanks Tommy. We need to keep in mind that most questions about supplements on this site will be about "when on treatment". As they are indeed 'supplements' I would suggest erring on the side of caution for the relatively short period of treatment if we don't have supportive evidence. People can take them up again after achieving SVR should they feel there is a benefit for them. | Hi Everybody, I've been browsing the threads to see whether I can find good information about the following 2 questions, but I got confused, would anyone have perhaps more information? 1. Vitamin B supplements - before tx I used to take brewer's yeast tablets and I felt quite good. After starting the tx I stopped taking it, because I am not sure if the fungus used to make these tablets might contain bad substances.... 2 weeks ago I took one tablet and in that day I felt slightly better and slept better. So, the question here is if brewer's yeast is safe to take during tx ? 2. Exposure to sun - here in Europe it's sumner time and I would like to spend some days, staying outside, going to the beach, swimming.... During IF+RIB it was not recomnended. How about now, with Sof+Led, no Rib? Will I risk something extra by compare with people not being under treatment? Of course, I will drink plenty of water, using sun cream, etc. Many thanks, RHF In fiecare an HCV ucide peste 500000 oameni.Medicamentele generice pentru hepatita C functioneaza. Hey rohcvfighter Throughout my 3 month treatment I swam in the ocean at least 4 times a week. It was at 7am, with the occasional swimming later in the day. I felt fine. I'll get my EOT results in a bit over a week but expect to be OK Genotype 1a Diagnosed in 2004, had HCV for all my adult life. Until 2016!!!! I was on Sof/Dac rather than with Sof/Led so maybe different. I spent several hours at a time in the sun over summer and didn't notice any increased tendency to sunburn but I did make sure I used SPF30+ suncream at all times and didn't spend the full day outside. I did notice my eyes seemed more sensitive to light but a good pair of polarised sunglasses and a hat helped with that. Vitamins B and D are good to have during Tx. I swam outside and took Vitamin supplements, Jeunesse AM/PM Essentials (which contains a couple of things recommended not to take with Dac like ginseng but small doses) alternating with Berocca. I don't imagine brewer's yeast would be a problem but I am not an expert. Sof/Led is less affected by foods than Sof/Dac, just don't take antacids near the same time as your dose. I completed 8 weeks of tx with Harvoni last Monday. The virus was undetected at 4 weeks and again at 8 weeks. Here are the supplements that I continued to take throughout treatment. B Complex (methylated form) Complete Mineral Complex Omega 3 (fish oil) Multivitamin (Erewhon store brand) Vitamin C powder (in my daily health smoothie) Alpha Lipoic Acid Probiotics Now I am also taking Silymarin and Acetyl-L Carnitine. I plan to restart taking CoQ10 and Glutathione, too. All supplements (other than the multivitamin of which I am not certain of) are of high quality. I also made a daily morning smoothie with: Almond milk, blueberries, cranberries, apple, fresh ginger, kiwi fruit, banana, avocado, whole raw almonds, flax meal, pumpkin seeds, organic grass fed whey protein. I have now added kale and barley grass powder to the smoothie since EOT. Anyway, so many people are worried about supplements during treatment, but I was concerned more about damage from the drug.
