Only if we wish to be over-melodramatic Serg. Most people would call it a risk-benefit analysis and weigh up the two sides and make a decision that is appropriate for them just like they would with any other medical procedure. G3a since '78 - Dx '12 - F4 (2xHCC) 24wk Tx - PEG/Riba/Dac 2013 relapsed 24wk Tx - Generic Sof/Dac/Riba 2015/16 relapsed 16wk Tx - 12/01/17 -> 03/05/17 NS3/NS5a + Generic Sof SVR7 - 22/06/17 UND SRV12 - 27/07/17 UND SVR24 - 26/10/17 UND

Gaj Sorry if "russian roulette" analogy seems as some "over-melodramatic" "negative connotation" or something like that. I had read mentioned by you Dr.James's posting with similar analogy and decided that this analogy is ok for this forum. Probably infected in 1977 2005 - diagnosed with HCV 1b, compensated F4, 15 mln viral load, ALT 320 2005-2006 - PegIFN/rib 48 weeks treatment, relapse 2016 - compensated F4, MELD 8-9, ALT 100-160 2018 - compensated F4, MELD 8, ALT 91 The following user(s) said Thank You: pat1

To be clear, I cited the thread not the analogy that was included in a post within it and I made no statements about "negative connotation" or that the analogy should not be used on the forum. I do stand by what I stated. G3a since '78 - Dx '12 - F4 (2xHCC) 24wk Tx - PEG/Riba/Dac 2013 relapsed 24wk Tx - Generic Sof/Dac/Riba 2015/16 relapsed 16wk Tx - 12/01/17 -> 03/05/17 NS3/NS5a + Generic Sof SVR7 - 22/06/17 UND SRV12 - 27/07/17 UND SVR24 - 26/10/17 UND

Good, no problem. Yes, I agree that usually we need to weigh up two sides. Probably infected in 1977 2005 - diagnosed with HCV 1b, compensated F4, 15 mln viral load, ALT 320 2005-2006 - PegIFN/rib 48 weeks treatment, relapse 2016 - compensated F4, MELD 8-9, ALT 100-160 2018 - compensated F4, MELD 8, ALT 91 The following user(s) said Thank You: pat1

I like the pack of straws analogy for probability. I explain 90% as being like pickingfrom a pack of 10 straws. 1 person gets the short one, 9 don't. When I grew up straws were more common than revolvers and Russian Roulette. The scene from the movie "The deer hunter" put me off that game. Great guitar tune though.... YMMV

Yes, pack of straws is more peaceful analogy... Great movie, great guitar... Probably infected in 1977 2005 - diagnosed with HCV 1b, compensated F4, 15 mln viral load, ALT 320 2005-2006 - PegIFN/rib 48 weeks treatment, relapse 2016 - compensated F4, MELD 8-9, ALT 100-160 2018 - compensated F4, MELD 8, ALT 91
