I had a blood test last saturday on day 15 of sofo/ledi(twinvir)

hospital told me results would come out tuesday, which is tomorrow.

getting nervous..

hopefully, VL is much lower than pre-tx.

p.s.
when you refer to VL, is IU/ML or copies/ML?
In korea, we have two result number for HCV.

In the west IU/ml is the common thing we use (except where it is Hep B and both IU and copies get reported!!!!)

Provided that the units are known conversion is easy.

And regardless of units BIG NUMBER -> small number is good!
YMMV

And one more question for Dr. Freeman.

In Korea, It seems that the minimum VL the blood test machine can detect is 40copies/ML.

Does blood test machine in AUS detect lower than 40 copies/ML?

is <41copies/ML same as UND?

thanks in advance :)

Hi Jay,
I am in the U.S., but most the reading minimums I see are <12 and <15.
I would image that is where your v/l will be in a couple of weeks. Maybe even UND.
Right now. Two weeks into tx, a <40 wouldn't surprise me at all.
Good Riddance!!

Hey, when its not there, you can't count it!
The big deal right now is to make certain the vast majority of the virus is gone. That means you are really responding well to treatment and will be looking at a SVR 12 rate in the upper 90% range.

Hi jay kim,

Do you know which test is being used to give you 40 copies/ML? If you do then the minimum level can be converted to iu/ML.

My lab tests for the presence of the "live" virus (qualitative) first. If that test shows "positive", then I am "detected" and they go on to measure the amount of virus present. (quantitative)
If no virus is detected, it shows a result of "negative" or Undetected.
No need for the quantitative test because there is nothing to count.
