Thanks LG!

I had RBV as the primary suspect and agree with what you say. I will try fatty stuff with RBV... Yoghurt helped this morning. The other drugs are just marvellous 21st century stuff. if anyone is in trepidation of them because of my post... don't be. The worst side effect I have is insomnia and a little THC (cannabis) works wonders.

Cheers, Rowan

Dr J-F

Many thanks indeed! Unfortunately I was borderline cirrhotic with a Fibroscan of 12 (Up from 6 in 12 months!). so I "had" to have it. Amazing how much we have learned in such a short time!

I have days of few side-effects and the clarity or "fog-lifting" as some have described it teases me so. I have glimpses of what it will be like post treatment and I know I will feel 20 something again!

Thanks for all that you do ...

regards

Well it's time for another update.

First blood results had a small viral load under 30 copies down from 1,900.000! ALTs and ASTs still under 300. I had another a fortnight ago and VL is undetectable (yay!) ALTs and ASTs in the mid 200s which my Dr says is no issue as they are finding that in some they will go down when treatment finishes.

Coincident with these rather pleasing numbers is that my anaemic feeling (only a feeling not anaemia) is most likely caused by the RBV has abated and I am gaining a small amount of muscle form and subcutaneous fat. 2 weeks to go to completion and the side effects are passing.

These are wonderful drugs and I cannot think of anything better to spend money on!

All of us on these medicines have provided a great service to our supervising doctors that are now armed with a wealth of experiences and knowledge to help the next wave (flood?) of people taking them on the PBS.

Thanks all at FixHepC and best wishes to those on treatment.
