Started Harvoni 2 weeks ago. Results promising so far. 10 more weeks to go … Fingers, Toes, Eyes, Arms, Legs crossed …
7 August 2017 at 4:41 pm #26720Trust in the statistics. The odds are definitely in your favour.
Let us know what your 4 week blood test show….
YMMV
8 August 2017 at 11:43 am #26724Hi Seedy,
Great to hear you have started treatment. Everything’s crossed for you but really this stuff works. Looking forward to hearing about your results.
3 November 2017 at 12:34 am #26974Viral load prior to treatment – 9875
After 6 weeks – 12
After 12 weeks – 0Doc wants a blood test next June as a confirmation that the virus is still gone. A slight chance that due to the state of my liver it may recur
Fingers crossed
3 November 2017 at 5:49 am #26976Great news Seedy. I had a blood test at 24 weeks and I remember Dr Freeman saying on a post recently that if the virus was still present it has had 24 weeks without medication and hasn’t grown back so it’s definitely gone for good. Looks like yours is gone. Yay!!
3 November 2017 at 11:25 am #26977Hi Seedy,
After rereading your various posts it sounds like the twelve week test may be when you recently finished treatment (took the last of your pills) rather than 12 weeks after finishing treatment? If so a viral load test result of undetected (0) at that stage is certainly good news but it is the tests during the weeks after treatment has finished that really determine likelihood of cure.
I believe Coral is referring to the post that Dr Freeman made (in the link below) regarding viral load testing during the period after you have finished taking the pills.

The problem can be gaining access to this additional testing in some countries (and of course the cost if you have to pay for the tests yourself). Additional testing at 4 weeks, 12 weeks and 24 weeks is ideal and will give confidence that you have been cured particularly the 24 week after test.
If this option is not available for whatever reason(s) then please read the below quote from the link.
“If you can’t get/can’t afford to do a viral load testing ALT level is a very good indicator. If it is no more than 20% higher than on treatment you are fine. If it has risen by 100% that is a worry, so 10->12, 20->24, 40->48 is nothing to worry about, but 10->20 or 20->40, or 40->80 is.”

11 October 2019 at 6:27 am #29505Sorry for screwing the pooch for so long …
Harvoni did not cut it.
Started June 2018 on a combination of meds for 120 days
Vosevi and Ribavirin
Finished Oct 2018.
As of June 2019 still showing zero – so a Win in that column.
Late summer 2018 CT Scan found a tumor on my liver.
Microwave Ablation therapy May 2019
As of Sept tumor has not regrown – so a Win in that column
Beat Hep C 2018. Beat liver cancer 2019
Now going broke buying lottery tickets as I must be on one Hell of a Roll !!!
Good Luck to all in your treatments, and fingers crossed you will experience the same results as I did12 October 2019 at 12:01 am #29509Thank you for this upbeat post Seedy, it provides plenty of optimism for Hep C patients no matter how advanced their liver disease is. With the huge advance in the treatment of liver related ailments that has taken place over the last few years (e.g. Antiviral drugs), the prognosis looks excellent for the vast majority of patients.
I wouldn’t go broke on lottery tickets though, your good fortune has more to do with scientific advances than pure luck

Thanks for the post. It’s great to hear you’ve got rid of the Hep C and have beaten cancer!
YMMV
