Hi K, I got it drawn last thursday and online results appeared today, for all the tests EXCEPT the viral load test which is the one I was really wanting to see of course. I can’t imagine a good reason why the viral load would take that much longer than the others, and the explanation i got was vague…”we’re looking into it”.
So, I had online access to the results, just no viral load test results…nothing, like it never happened, just the stupid antibody test with the mysterious reference number saying my “value” was ” 33.9 “,whatever that’s supposed to mean….I’ll be on em tmw again about my VL load test they promised they were doing.

No this is billed to insurance company, which now im thinking maybe that’s why they ordered the useless test instead of the one I need to know

I know Chester, but you know, I cant help but wonder “33.9” what? above 1? I know its 33.9 something, I know its at least 33.9 times more than I would want it to be, but damn…sure would have been nice if they had told me who/what the 33.9’s were….
Rest of stuff looked good, albumin and bilirubin and stuff, the alkaline phosphatase sadi 50….my sodiums at the top at 145 and my glucose is 96, so I guess I need to be trying to ameliorate those things…
Hopeflly they also did the useful test and it just takes longer, otherwise Ill have to give them more blood and wait some more to find out I guess. I can’t even envision a reason for ordering a test like that for me, at this stage of treatment/disease. maybe to pump up the bill to the insurance company.

Thanks Chester, I see you came to the same conclusion I did,…a completely useless test, a complete waste of money…what a revelation, I have hepc……wow, sure glad I found THAT out.

Hi bloot, well i did that too but I think the less than symbol is to denote the “standard range”, i.e,, normal non hcv infected pserson, such that if you have no number to the right of it you are ok, and in my case there IS a number to the right of it, meaning i am not in the standard range, and therefore, yes, the “news” they have provided me with is that i have hepc antibodies….wow, who would have known???
so really I guess the only mystery (other than still not knowing my viral load after 4 weeks), is what if any meaning that “33” number means?

thx Bloot, but you prob didn’t realize im in the US, so maybe a bit diffferent. The clinicians PROMISED me they were going to do a viral test load before I went in to give em my blood last week, they have pretty much always done one before every 3 or 4 months whenever I wanted, even thoguh i wasnt’ getting treated, so I was taken aback that I didn’t get one NOW that I have a reason to see if they have decreased.
My numbers have always been relatively low, 100,000 or even less sometimes, so I was really hoping they would all get wiped out in 4 weeks, but now I’m thinking while there might not have been that many of em, the ones that I did have were extra tough or something…I know, its crazy conjecture, but you start thinking stuff like that
Now I’m just wondering what that number meant that came with the antibody test, if it meant anything at all.
Still waiting to hear back from Dr. if they really ordered the viral load test or not. Now I’m working on my 5th week.

yea, bout time…i figured these insurance companies have been ripe for that, as I said before, not much comfort for those who have lost loved ones but it might deter some of this crapola in the future…shouldn’t have to be done this way though, shouldn’t have happened like this in the first place.

This is what you get in an oligarchy or kleptocracy or whatever we have become. In a properly run country, it wouldn’t have happened like this, in a slightly less properly run country, the government upon suddenly “finding out”, would at least declare gilead’s patent void, and start producing the drug at cost and recoup some money from gilead and this guy.

Hi Cassady: I’m one of the guys who just went to Australia from US and came home with it. Before I decided to do that, I was looking into having it mailed, which may be possible through fixhep c or Greg Jeffreys (keep reading and you’ll learn about him too, very nice, very helpful). I think the new difficulties folks are talking about is just directly importing it from the factory in china, which factory I hear doesn’t want to do it anymore. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you still couldn’t do it the way I was looking at before, but for that you need a prescription from an Australian doctor (easily done with a consult thru gp2u), and preferably a generic prescription from a US Dr to be included with your package, and some other stuff Greg Jeffreys was telling me about.
I had most of that stuff together, including a generic script from my US doctor but then i just got impatient and decided to just go and get it and see what it was like to walk upside down on the bottom of the planet. I managed to hang on.
I would suggest talk with Dr. Freeman and/or Greg Jeffreys about getting it mailed to here if you want to go that route. At one point also I know some folks were talking about trying to set up a pick up place in mexico or bahamas for us US folks, but I never heard anything come of that—but it would be a real good idea. Bahamas for those on the East Coast, Mexico for those down south and west….maybe somewhere in Canada for the rest of us up in the tundra. Good luck to you, get well soon.
