Ok…….. 13 years of 1st hand experience.
In 2003, my testosterone levels dropped down to 4 nmo1/L for what ever reason.
Normal range is 11.0 – 40.0
At level 4 I couldn’t even scratch myself, (no energy or libido)
After I have my 3 monthly testosterone injection, my levels increase & so does my energy & libido.
I’m seeing my endocrinologist next month to look at my levels & maybe able to get off the replacement therapy .Very interesting, M.H. I might bring it up with my GP just in case.

I saw on the bottom of your post that ferritin was high at the end of treatment– might be indicating higher iron levels that can cause one to feel pretty rough-at least that was my experience when my iron levels shot through the roof 10yrs ago..
do you suffer from iron overload disorder? tryand maybe watch your iron intakegood luck
from Bob in irelandCongrats on your recent results!
About my iron, the doc initially thought overload, but test showed normal iron and saturation suggesting the ferritin was associated with inflammation or sth. Cutting the ale was the first thing that began to normalise things, and the DAAs did the rest.
Anyway, a fair price to pay to get the fingers moving again!

With the proviso that your ALT was elevated out of range pre treatment (a handful of patients with a significant VL have normal looking LFTs at baseline) then ALT elevation is a reliable marker for relapse. Elevations of LFTs for no obvious reason are the usual reason doctors look for HCV.
So, at SVR24, if your ALT is normal, and you’re not feeling any of the “usual suspect pre-treatment symptoms” then HCV RNA PCR is largely academic – we are not going to find anything. My reason for ordering it would be to remove patient doubt/anxiety, rather than because it’s strictly needed and I’m not already sure what the result is.
Thanks, Doctor.
That makes sense. I’m not overly concerned, especially as the stats for SVR12 are so well established, but out of curiosity, I might request some LFTs the next time I see my GP. This is a long-term process, so a little more information can’t hurt, especially if it is quick and not too draining on the public purse.

Just wondering – getting a viral load test at 24 weeks is expensive for most people (or for the taxpayer if one’s quota has not run out) and takes a long time.
Would just doing the LFTs be a cheap and quick proxy to test SVR at 24 weeks and beyond?
If one assumes that a relapse will be associated with rising ALT/AST/GGT, would this be an economical runaround just to check that everything is still on track? Then one could do a PCR if the LFTs were high (assuming they had been abnormal during the original infection).
What do you think?

Interesting. Do you have any links?
You should give the Gilead “love” you have a rest, at least on this forum. Everyone else here despises those greedy bastards.
Thanks but no thanks. For one, I haven’t mentioned any love here, but have rather spent a few posts pointing out the hypocrisy of taking a one-sided position of hate against a company who has benefited so many commentators on this forum. The sanctimonious chest beating is sickening to watch as its complete lack of self insight and rationality mirrors very closely that of more serious hate-inciting organisations that are better left unnamed.
Second, not everyone else here despises “those greedy bastards”. Plenty others here understand that the real arguments are much more complex than your kindergarten constructions, and that words such as “despise” have no place in these discussions. It is certainly not me that needs to take a rest.

2016……. 20……. 24……. 25……. 156…………. (SVR 12)And yet, many of us here have bought drugs legitimately, from companies with licences tied to Gilead, for much lower prices than the Western RRP.
Why are people only criticising from one side when we have done so well with Gilead’s own cut-price drugs? I’ve mentioned this many times, but no-one seems able to accept that they got very good deals from the company they are attacking.
Yes, they are greedy, but they also allow this wide open back door that anyone with half a brain, thanks to the work of this site, has been able to make use of.
So please keep your arguments balanced, especially when you start praising other companies that pirate the drugs and have made relatively little investment into research apart from getting the manufacture right. They are the real bottom-feeders (but all the same, I have some respect for their criminal professionalism in delivering even cheaper drugs to the market.)
It’s a complex issue that doesn’t yield much to the logic of dedicated witch hunters and other overly idealistic commentators.

Interesting you should mention your finger joints. I’ve done the DAA course and am SVR and in general, I feel as lousy as I have always felt over the last twenty or so years even though my tests all look much better.
The only thing that has noticeably improved is that my knuckles now bend and no longer hurt. I can form fists once more and am beginning to pick up the guitar again, which had become impossible some years ago.
So I share your happy surprise of finding my hands freeing up for playing music.

No, it doesn’t. She was outlining a business position. Interestingly a business position that has allowed many people on this site to get better by buying drugs that Gilead has made cheaply available in certain countries.
Please don’t let your desire to be angry at something cloud your reason concerning the medication that is benefiting so many people (if they have more than two brain cells in their heads and a sense of adventure.) You guys aren’t too good with the reading comprehension, are you? I have a strong constitution, so I am quite capable of enduring your company, even though some of you are so crazed by hate that you have announced a violent fantasy. I will not report you today.
One funny thing is that in today’s culture of cowardice, I am probably more likely to get into trouble for using logic that is relatively neutral, but embarrassing for you, than that other person here is likely to be censured for voicing his desire to attack a woman he disagrees with. It is all very peculiar.
Aktually, come to think of it, your behaviour is so messy that I have a feeling that I am just being trolled by children or drug addicts. Silly me! I might leave you for a bit until you sober up or decide to try to act a little more mature.

Sorry that you don’t get that pretty much everyone on this forum finds dealing in death offensiveThat is not any form of rebuttal – it is the response of a hysterical child attempting to derail an argument with hyperbole.
The commies used to do a similar thing when criticised on specific human rights issues. They would simply say that the US was in no position to comment because they once had slavery, which is a pitiful quality of argument that has nothing to do with the issue at hand.
But to be fair, emotional outbursts and convulsive fits can win arguments, but not in an honourable way, especially when they are accompanied by fantasies or threats of violence as demonstrated by a recent poster.
If I were of a more delicate nature, I’d be reporting one of you to the moderators, but I’m pretty sure that once the bawling has stopped, it will be bedtime and the noise will quieten down, so I’ll put such drastic responses aside until they are really necessary.

Actually, it seems that you revised your comment as it suggested that an American being on a British committee was somehow wrong and a sign of corruption:
Greedfighter wrote:Yes beaches, I agree. It’s very interesting, I listened to her again, she is an American! How is it that she is on a British pharmaceutical committee? What a corrupt world we live in.
Whether you think she is a “shill” or not is irrelevant. Your post simply betrayed your prejudices and ignorance.
Greedfighter wrote:She’s not corrupt only because she plays for the greed team. I can’t call her a tiger if the team uniform is orange and black stripes.
She’s not corrupt; she is a piece of shit.
If you listen to her, I can’t help but want to kick her in the mouth, however she is not corrupt, since she represents the pharma manufacturers, who are delighted by high prices at the expense of human life. Yay team!
And in this last post of yours, do you really think you can brush off with an emoticon your stated desire to kick a woman in the mouth because you have decided she represents a point of view that you disagree with?
And then congratulate yourself by shouting, “Yay, team!”?
Unless you wish to have an identity associated with advocating violence, you really need to think a bit before hitting the send button.

Thanks for revising your comments.
In any case, an interesting video, except that the narrator describes HCV as being “highly contagious”, which unfortunately is completely wrong. Her misrepresentation of this point severely undermines the credibility of the rest of her story, which is a shame, as she had the chance to educate the public rather than spread misinformation.
