Hi Chejai,

When you get that fibroscan, make sure you fast for a few hours before.
Nobody told me that before my first one & the results were worryingly high,
when I had my next one about a year later, I didn’t eat for hours before & the result was startlingly different, much less!!

So, just in case nobody tells you, not sure if the doc’s have figured that out yet or not, maybe they warn the patients now, not sure.

Hi Joan,

Thanks for that, I managed to get his records of all the meds he’s on from the nurse at the clinic he’s currently at ( he has PTSD )
gave these to his liver specialist to see if there will be any interaction with the orals if he gets them.

His doc was unwilling to “advice” our friend to get the generics, but willing to monitor him, which is what we expected.( although seemed a little put out)
But our friend’s a bit scattered & didn’t understand, doesn’t want to offend his specialist, He’s rather him to RECOMMEND them, think he’s worried about that.
it’s taken a lot of explaining, but I think he finally understands.

Hope things can get started soon.
But may be a while before his specialist gets back to him…. ( this would be typical).. so we’ll try to keep on top of it all for him.

This is his 2nd liver transplant, so it makes sense to stop the hep from destroying this one.
Although his doc is mainly worried about the Bile Ducts which are bad & he has to have stents put in every few months.
I guess it’s all a bit complicated, but..

Still think a hep free liver would be a happier liver.

J’s one week VL ( viral load) went from 2 million down to 37
Amazing!

He;s now day 17, and feeling great.

Quite sure his bout of sickness was due to a gastro bug, nothing to do with the orals.

J seems to be a lot happier lately.

I’ve looked in the link to the drugs that interact with the generics,
but can’t seem to find if Minamyacin the broad spectrum anti biotic is ok or not with Harvoni?
Anyone know please?

Unfortunately our Gov hasn’t really lived by that type of saying, many veterans are forgotten & fall through the cracks.
Including my husbands cousin who died last week of liver failure, he was a Vietnam vet.
It was too late for him.

Very sad.

Lets hope it’s not too late for our friend.

Not sure Archer what his “meld score” is?? I know he has to have stents? done about every 3 months.

Never been to hospital with him before, my husband did once to talk to nurse, but he didn’t really know what to ask or anything.

Think she said something about that his last liver was the one that did all the damage & not this one?
but surely they don’t want to have to “wait” ’till this one’s so bad another transplant is required, I bet he wouldn’t get another one, they’d just let him quietly pass away, out of sight out of mind….

I’ll get into “interrogation mode” for tomorrow , it’s just not fair how some are treated. they just get forgotten.

Just found out through Joan that this specialist is aware of the generics, and not adverse to them, so hopefully all will go well tomorrow

Hi Chester,

Thank you for that.

I could discuss it with the specialist I guess if he allows him to have that compassionate orals.

If he’s generic friendly, I will buy the Sof for him through the hepcbuyers club, as he doesn’t have hardly any money.
We’d do that for him if it gives him the best chance to get rid of the hep as he’s such a great bloke.

I’ll wait to bring up the generic Sof with the Prof. after & if he agrees to the other orals.
Can you tell me why he should have the Sof added? ( so I can put this to the prof.)?
