    Well there’s one in every group………. B)

Recently Dr James contacted me with the results of my 9 week blood test. The good news is that my liver functions are normal (big hooray!) and my VL is <15 (also big cheer) but the not so good news is that I am still Detected.

It seems I am a member of that very small percentage that has not responded as quickly to the DAAs. (Special? Moi?) It is also possible that my liver may have been worse than the FibroScan suggested (F2-F3) and/or that my liver deteriorated at a rapid rate after having it. Whatever the reason... it is what it is.

After talking this through with Dr James, instead of finishing my treatment (Sof/Led) at 12 weeks on 4/2 I am going to continue with Sof/Daclatasvir. He suggested this as Dac is substantially cheaper than Led and even if I were to be UND at 12 weeks I don't think I would have peace of mind that the critters were gone for good. So we'll hit the last ones standing with something different. I'm not sure if I'll need the whole additional 12 weeks and if not the leftovers can go back into the pot for someone else.

I'll be in a good position to compare any side effects between the two. I have had such minimal sx on Sof/Led that it will be interesting to see if this is any different.

I will get there - it's just taking a little longer.

As always I'm grateful to the Doc for the time he takes to talk these issues through and the Buyers Club for my next lot of meds. :)

    Hi Cindi,

Happy Birthday to J and well done you! I remember when J was starting out on his treatment. It’s still hard to believe that people shoot out the other end so quickly and so undetected! Wishing you the very best results for his 16th.

    Hi Suzy,

Welcome! If you are considering treatment for your Hep C you are in exactly the right place for meds, information and support. There is also a lot of good information on this site to take with you when you visit your specialist in early February.

Sorry that I can’t answer your question about Hep B but it is likely that someone may be able to assist or point you in the right direction.

Look forward to hearing about your progress. :cheer:

Thanks Tina, Ariel et al for the discussion and hints for dry hair which I will try. This frigging virus tried to sabotage my career, relationships and glass half full approach to life and now it wants my hair as well?? Lol. :cheer:

I think it’s the treatment to be Hep C free that’s affecting my hair so I’ll forgive it this one last thing. ;) I’ll embrace my return to a bob/blob that I’d been trying to grow out.

    You are great gals :cheer:

I also experienced early menopause and I did wonder if it was due to the virus. When I had my hormones tested a few years ago I had very low levels of oestrogen etc. and as the liver regulates the balance of hormones I guess it makes sense that levels can be erratic and we get all the wonderful side effects of early menopause, low hormone leves and Hep C. Fabulous!

Sorry to hear about the miscarriages that others have suffered. Like Jaz I also had two overdue babies and no miscarriages.

On another less serious matter has anyone else had really dry, thinning hair? I had to have quite a bit cut off last week due to dry split ends and I can’t think of anything that I’m doing differently except the medication. Understand it’s way down on the list of serious sx. B)
