Glad to hear they are on board Vicki….so glad you are feeling so well. I had my blood test (4 week) done yesterday and the lady that took the blood had no idea that Hep C was even curable. We had a discussion about the Buyers Club and the generics and she was mighty impressed with the process. Said she would “spread the word”! I do hope I have no virus detected and good LFT. Just getting a bit nervous I guess. Hopefully the Bendigo Base Liver Clinic will help out patients as well with monitoring however I am still waiting for my appt (18 month wait so only a few months to go) I will ring once my results are in to let them know I no longer need the appointment and speak to the Hep Nurse about my journey.
Will post my results once they come in.
Cheers

Wow, what a beautiful woman, and she told her story with such sincerity and quiet joy, how could anyone not be moved.

I read today that Daclatsavir is not FDA approved.
Here is the FDA approval announcement for Daklinza (Daclatasvir)

So I guess what you read today was either Gilead marketing material or out of date.

Hello Panamajo,
Yes this is a problem.
Yes it needs to be look at by a doctor.
The direct cause is fluid retention and it will need treatment with diuretics (probably), however we need to see what your bloods look like.
I expect you will either be anaemic or your albumin will be low (or both).
See a doctor and get bloods done today. If you can’t do that stop the Riba now.

Fibroscan from 2 years ago is encouraging and we can do a hepascore to confirm you are/are not cirrhotic.
Happy to help if needs be or talk to your GP about it.

Thanks for that…make more sense now. I am on a 12 week course with 8 to go…fingers crossed my 4 week blood test comes back good.

Thanks GAJ although I’m not clear on the difference between the two tests…..I am assuming that the Viral Load test my Doctor has asked for will be the one that hopefully comes back “UND”……not medically minded I’m afraid…I’m sure my GP knows what he is doing hmy:

Hi All
I go for the all important 4 week blood test tomorrow and hope to have the results by the 21st. When I was first diagnosed my GP (whom I have since ditched and got one who actually knows something about HepC – I was having to tell the first GP what tests he had to run) ordered a Viral Load test (when I asked him to). So this next test will be the second for 2015. Hopefully I won’t need to have another until end of treatment…….I am lucky in that I have a supportive GP and the bloods are taken at the Medical Clinic. My GP was sure to put on the blood test request “currently being treated with DAA for HepC (which is on the GP cheat sheet)…….so hopefully I wont get charged for this second one. Reading some of the experiences from others on the Forum I count myself lucky. I immediately went to a Specialist (who had the personality of a seal) here in Bendigo when I was diagnosed, who happily booked me in for a Fibroscan at the RMH (which I didn’t have to pay for) so when I spoke with Dr Freeman I had all my results…….just a footnote, I am still waiting for an appt at the Bendigo Base at the Liver Clinic (18 month wait they tell be so I only have 10 months to go)…in which time I hope to be able to ring and tell them not to bother, take me off the list because I am cured!
I hope you are able to get your answers 2b…very frustrating for you.

Hello Jolie,
You blood pressure is not panic stations high. Measure it a few times – 10 minutes apart – and you will probably find it falls after an hour or so and you get bored with the BP measuring and start to relax.
Contacting your doctor is a good idea. The first few days can be a little rocky.

I made a $200 donation ($100 from me and my employer matched it) last week. There was a spot to put in why you were making a donation (if you wanted to fill it in) and I just said that I had been diagnosed with HepC and if I could assist someone to access the medication that would otherwise not be able to afford it, I was happy to make the donation. I hope it went to the right part….I did see the thermometer but didn’t take any notice of it after I made the donation.

According to http://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/brompheniramine
The metabolic pathway has not been full characterised.
So while it should be fine, as short a period of use as possible would be best.

Yes DT, this is the beginning.
Unchecked it is the beginning of worse.

Tell them they are dreaming! Ring Laverty and say you’ve been quoted $140 and ask if they can do better.
In case of emergency ping me and I will ask for you.

Hi Kevin,
I’ve made a few calls.
FixHepC will add $1 for any $1 pledged
Adam at Kingswood Compounding will add $1 for any $1 pledged
I will add $1 for any $1 pledged
I can’t get hold of Graeme at West Lindfield Pharmacy but knowing him I’d be willing to bet he will contribute to so how about you make the call…
