Well after 23 days into the battle, time has come for first blood work sample.
Aside from little elevated HDL cholesterol everything else is normal.
Liver enzymes are as follows:
ALT: 14, AST 14, GGT 19, ALP 107
Few days before tx it was:
AST 41, ALT 59, GGT 39, ALP 74So Ledifos is definitely working. Off course the final confirmation would be PCR, and I will see with my doc about timing for PCR. Should I do one at week 4 or wait until the end of 12w tx.
As for side effects, sometimes mild headaches that don’t last long, I have good appetite and sleep well. Have some skin issues on my shoulders and back, and blurry vision, but nothing even similar to pegi/riba hell I went through for 4 months last year.

Nothing much to report, I think I have more energy and concentration during the working day, better appetite, sleeping well.
Only issue is back pain like I have injured muscle or nerve in my upper right back, for two days now, but not sure it is tx related. I was doing some exercises so it could be from that.Anyway PCR results came back so baseline parameters beofre tx are as follows:

- Red Cells / Haemoglobin carry oxygen.
- Neutrophils help fight bacterial infection
- Lymphocytes help fight viral infection

ALP is a measure of liver outflow obstruction so high is a worry, low is fine.
The normal range for any value is the 95th percentile ie 95% of normal people have values within this range. A problem with the 95th percentile is that 5% of normal people have values outside that range, or to put it another way if I do 20 tests on a normal person it’s nearly a 100% chance that one value will be out of range (apologies to the statisticians – I do know it is technically 1 – 0.95^20 = 65.2% and never gets to 100%).

Not meant to hijack the thread but reading this I remembered that last two blood works I had (6 months and 1 week ago) I had elevated Monocytes in %. Results are 8.2 and 10.4 respectively (normal range is 2.0 – 8.0%). Other stuff are normal except MCHC (g/L) slightly elevated 361 and 364 respectively (normal 320-360). Liver enzymes normal except slightly elevated AST (41) and ALT (59).
Could that be something else or is HCV related?

Upon Greg’s recommendation I’ve contacted Mr.Parag Jain and brokered a deal for 6 bottles of Ledifos (3 for me and 3 for fellow from Serbia who could not get an Indian visa in time).
We met in person in Delhi and everything we agreed was followed by the word. Beside being very professional Parag is very fun and helpful fellow who gave me good tips on exploring Delhi and Indian culture. He also explained me how pharma market in India works, and that no one except distributors can purchase medications directly from manufacturers.
He was also curious why I have chosen Delhi over Mumbai in January. Now I have to agree with him that sunshine sea located Mumbai is far better choice than foggy cold heavily polluted Delhi.

I’ve safely arrived home, been even promoted to business class seat for some reason so had a great trip with lost of leg space and massage
Going tomorrow to my doc so tx can be officially initiated. Will also check liver enzymes before starting, and PCR results are on the way.
Are there any recommended diet, like what is good to eat while on Harvoni tx?
I’m not on any other medications, and aware that grapefruit and st. johns wort should be avoided, not sure about milk thistle but will restrain from all artificial vitamins and supplements just in case.
What about coffee?

CAP depicts liver fattiness (steatosis) , and there I’m little above limit, the other number is below 7 which should mean I dont have significant liver fibrosis. Unfortunately the procedure is not that precise in F0-F2 range, but I’m happy it’s not cirrhotic.Traveling by elevated train to clinic which is at the suburbs of Delhi was adventure by itself, crowds of people cars, tuktuks and animals are everywhere. There is non stop honking and shouting. Pollution is beyond imagination. Thick smelly fog encircle whole city and the sun can be seen like a hazy white disc.

On top of that right now I’m staring at six pack of Ledifos bottles, 3 of which I’m getting for another hepc survivor who could not get an Indian visa.
Still not believing I have a chance for life without this damned bug in these 3 little bottles.

I’ve decidet to start tx on my return home hence I don’t want any side effects to ruin my Delhi adventure.

I find that quite possible. When I was due to run test for genotyping, public lab did not have appropriate tests, and I was told to wait until they got supply. I’m not a patient person, so I did test in private lab which got latest genotyping tehcnology, and that’s probably reason why I got precise result.
