Hello
on day 4 and so far I haven’t had and side effects. Wow..I am really surprised and relieved..as I have food intolerance’s and chemical sensitivities. There were a few mild symptoms like on second day very very fatigued, a bit of nausea but I have put it down to emotional exhaustion and I have these symptoms anytime.
The meds feel very mild and its mind boggling that they are knocking out the virus. Bring it on I say!! I was prepared to be out of action for awhile..stocked up on books and DVS’s but hey looks like this is not going to happen..well today anyway..taking it day by day.
Thanks for all the well wishes.

good to hear you have received your meds. As far as drinking alcohol goes before or after treatment ..you will sort it out. You have enough info on this forum to make an informed decision, which is what helps us all.It has been a very good conversation from all. I haven’t drank for years & after treatment won’t drink. Its something I just don’t have in my lifestyle these days but have no problem with anyone who does with or without Hep C. Its your life.
Good luck with your treatment

In the lead up to my meds arriving (arrived yesterday) I was on a roller-coaster of emotions. Wondering if I would handle side effects, how I would cope..on and on it went…its part of it. The apprehension, fear and uncertainty. I just rolled with my feelings as they came and went.
It is a huge thing that your doing..and good on you for taking your life into your own hands and not waiting for the PBS. I wish you well.I have just taken my first dose so we will be travelling this path at the same time.

a brief update…last post I was feeling rather anxious anticipating the arrival of the drugs..I was facing the reality of “what if I am slammed by side effects..what if I am sick the whole 12 weeks…etc…but there is only such much anxiety I can bare and now I am calm..just getting on with the day to day.I thought I would mention this process for anyone who is on the roller coaster of waiting for the drugs to arrive. The elation of empowerment..the fear and uncertainty..then the calm/acceptance. My drugs should arrive in the next few days. I am looking forward to clearing this virus and having energy, enthusiasm and a new lease on life.

Thank you for the good wishes. Sorry to hear that you didn’t get the support you wanted from the liver clinic. I hope you can get support from your GP. I became very sick last year and the virus escalated. Within a year my fibroscan went from 8.6 to 17 which sent off alarm bells. The specialist tried to get the New Drugs from Gilead through compassionate access but I was declined because I wasn’t sick enough. So my option was Interferon. Which I declined. I think I am being supported by the liver clinic because I have to take action now as fortunately I don’t have cirrhosis and don’t want to wait to get it.
Hope your treatment goes well.

Alt Week 4: 14 Ast Week 4: 28 VL Week 4: UND 7.12.2015I refuse to apologise for my youth and I take responsibility for my actions!! I will not take on shame by ignorant people who may judge me, whilst some make a fortune from my illness. Like most people who are older, when I look back on the past I would change many things and having Hep C is one of them. I have had HCV 40 years and have been diagnosed for 26 years. Since diagnoses I have been unwell. I have had many periods when I have been unable to work or have a social life and it has impacted on my relationships.
I have forced myself to not lie down with this illness. I participate in life & community. I have dragged my body around when all I’ve wanted to do was give up because I am so fatigued, nauseous and full of pain. I never went on Interferon as I saw the consequences of the drug and decided I would cure myself through alternative therapies. That didn’t happen!! Last year I quit my part time job as I became very unwell. The HepC progressed and I was facing taking Interferon. I anguished over this decision and thought I would wait for the availability of the New Drugs on the PBS. The stress of waiting started to take its toll & impacted on my health. I started to get anxiety. I can not afford to wait for the Governments decision. I am going through the Buyers Club and I feel absolute relief that I am taking my life into my own hands. I am awaiting the arrival of the drugs and should be on treatment next week. In 12 WEEKS I will have a cure!! I am indebted to Dr James Freeman & team and his compassionate & tireless efforts to help myself and many many others. The Buyers Club has given HCV suffers a sense of hope that they are cared about and they have an opportunity to cure themselves. Why do you think the Buyer Club is so successful in such a short time? People are desperate and he is listening! I urge the Government to support HCV suffers and come to some decision now. To end this stalling and come to an agreement with Gilead. Listen to the people!!

I received an email a couple of days after I sent the order and money. If possible give them a ring and speak to them. Then you will definitely know they have received the order. They are very efficient. Good Luck.

I have had the virus for 40 years and got diagnosed approx 26 years ago..I stopped alcohol around that time as I became quite sick with chronic fatigue (now I think may have been hep c). Since then I have lived a drug alcohol cigarette free life style and eaten healthy food and done yoga/chi gong off and on over the years. My health has never returned although my healthy life style and alternative treatments over the years probably contributed to the hep c virus staying at F2 for years and not progressing. Last year I became very sick and the hep C progressed to F3. I am not certain why this happened but I became very stressed for a few years due to studying and working. And I am older. If anything I put it down to stress. Years ago my GP said to me don’t drink alcohol not even one drop as it will aggravate your liver.
Thats not why I stopped alcohol but I do remember her words.
