    @londongirl

Londongirl, thin people can also be insulin resistant and steatosis but obviously if you’re underweight then loosing weight would not be recommended. But diet can always be improved. I would concentrate on having less carbs and more protein if ok with your doc (since he’s the one familiar with your case).

Thanks Price, yes, definitely more protein, but even with that it’s hard to keep the weight on. Initially put some deperately needed kgs on with starting treatment, but still low.

I had a LiverMultiScan and it showed no fat (unsurprising!) – but I do feel cholesterol profiles are relevant in some way and feel there are central areas of liver where DAAs had a harder time reaching on me, fat or no fat. What is the cause? LMS showed more intense fibrosis in this area center ribs and where that area has more blood flow? It’s a complex issue for sure, things not working right, gaining too much fat, losing too much weight, low Absorption and I guess High Absorption too (although I’m sure not the correct term!) I have read quite a bit on this in the past and instinct telks me this area needs to be looked at more in regard to pre treatment testing. My cholesterol profile wasn’t measured by hospital, it was a private blood test. Somehow I think there are some links between how our bodies are responding to the medicines, especially if a slower response, maybe cross GT and Steatosis / Congestion and such areas. I wouldn’t even begin to understand this complex thing, but I have learned we are all unique and ‘one size’ doesn’t fit all. This is the big problem with NHS England eg One set route for all, thankfully their narrow option was not a path I took. ie the option of 8 weeks Harvoni, not that I was actually offered that, but it would have been likely as they took fibroscans from the right side flank, not near the center where my fibrosis readings are higher.

One thing I feel for sure is exercise is key for all if able, swimming in particular good for those with joint pain.

ps on starting treatment I had a huge craving for carbs.
ppsSorry to digress somewhat from the GT3 thread, but I do think there may some issues in common that are not GT3 specific although less apparent in GT1s, especially GT1as

    Hey FB :+1:
Yep , I was an ‘early-bird’ for the Indian generics.
It’s in my profile btw ;-) but my profile is running out of space due to extending tx and I don’t blame you for not making much sense of it!

Am just over 2 weeks EOT and in the ‘big wait’
    Hope you’re doing good,

I think I have the opposite of that, I lost too much weight, I don’t absorb things properly, maybe even the meds. So too fatty or too skinny can be problematic I feel and it may well be helpful to try and keep a good balance wherever possible. There is much more written re the too fatty side, but very few articles on the skinny side and malabsorbtion / malnutrition etc …

“Liver steatosis is an accumulation of fat in the liver, making a ‘fatty liver’. It corresponds to the accumulation of lipids (triglycerides) in the liver cells (hepatocytes) and may complicate alcoholic intoxication or metabolic disorders such as Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and dyslipemia. Such steatosis can either be isolated, making it a pure steatosis, or associated with hepatitis, which makes it non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Steatosis and NASH form non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). These are usually asymptomatic conditions, but they are currently becoming more common because of the increasing number of overweight patients. ”

My Triglycerides were way too low, this turned up in a private blood test not a routine hospital one. They came under the ‘cholesterol’ section of testing.

Yes RHF, there has been some debate here in the UK re this when some NHS England Drs have refused monitoring eg, One of my consultants included. Turned out his education was funded by big pharma, most of them, his blythe, arrogant attiyude was truly something to behold. Among other things shouting ‘YOU CAN WAIT’ at me  Thankfully there are more Docs coming around to the idea of monitoring here slowly, thanks to Dr F’s EASL presentation I feel, even though most are ‘incognito’ as they don’t want to get in trouble with the NHS suits. It Seems in the UK at least, it’s those invisible suits that are mostly to blame and the docs have to decide whether to risk being supportive. The ones totally beholden to big pharma, obviously don’t want to risk the comfortable lifestyle provided, but I now have a lovely supportive specialist Nurse / clinic thankfully. The Dr at the head of this dept. doesn’t associated himself with this as far a I know, after waiting over 3 months for my initial appointment on diagnosis, and trapsing to the hospital with severe back, hip & pelvic pain, he didn’t bother to even show up, leaving a note saying he ‘didn’t want to see me’ – Extremely distressing at the time.

Thank heavens for Dr F and Dr D hey?

Hey Coral #flower thanks for that , yes I doubt I will last the full 12 weeks before a test, like you. Wishing you all the very best for SVR my friend and I am thinking of you and sending #love

btw RHS every penny currently been spent on sun & sea without the wait grey morning today again, No good for a LG ! but great idea on return, will save for the next one! We just don’t get enough good weather around here and I love to be outside and not cooped up, I’m living in the wrong country !

I think maybe my brain needs a rest as well as body you know? It’s been so active last couple of years with diagnosis, watching & dealing with NHS England ermm ‘treatment’ policy and all the disappointment that brought, then the wonderful hope of this new option, waiting for 4 lots of meds etc etc No wonder my brain is fatigued, you know? Some rest & recoup needed I feel.

Thank-you too Matt, I really appreciate all the kind wishes, am still around but trying to get out and about physically, exercise and all that, really looking forward to booked holiday, although unfortunately it’s not in Aus, it’d be great to visit some of the true friends I’ve met on this forum there and around the world, maybe oneday in the coming years.

Meanwhile, forecast has changed here, it’s saying sunshine this weekend – Hooray !

Hope this post finds you all doing well and chins up !

Hi Bob, at just before EOT my white blood cells were also a little low. The nurse told me this can often be due to being on medicines for some time and she wasn’t concerned. Good they are investigating for you. Hope all is well.

Took mine every morning with phone alarm before getting up. (Important I feel). There is still a little confusion as to if I missed one dose or took 2 once by mistake ! I forget the details now and I had some confusion swapping to different meds & dates changing etc… I had a 7 day pill box with days of the week on too. I think the odd day is fine as beaches says.

It’s when I went away from home I used to get anxious, what if transport didn’t get me home on time? (very common in England!) so I used to take an extra one, just in case I was detained by the power of public transport!

Dear Archesr, so kind of you #love GT2 has the answer! We have only had two, I repeat TWO days of proper summer here

The other thing is, I am nearly 2 weeks off the meds and trying to distract myself in the good weather. Brain fog seems to be back, maybe underlying anxiety? I don’t feel that anxious, but after 6 months+ on these meds and feeling so much better the last 12 weeks, I am feeling slow and a bit tired. Maybe recovery , hopefully. It’s helpful to not be reading about the virus at this point I feel, (but am still in email communucation, particularly for those in England that need help importing meds & getting GP support / NHS monitoring etc).

    How are you Archer?

    Big #love to all.

    Hi RM,

This is an amazing new diagnostic and will seriously reduce the need for invasive procedures such as biopsy . Here is my scan (also posted in my blog, but that is long, so thanks for the opportunity to post again).

This scan uses MRI but without the need for contrast dye .

As well as fibrosis, it also measures iron & fat levels.
Perspectrum are doing great work to help liver disease patients :
