Just got VL test back from 24 weeks, still UND – Thank God :cheer:

So that’s 8-10 weeks of UND, 7 more days to EOT, then the anxious wait. Feeling a bit tired, having some nightmares at night and a little grumpy, but otherwise much more like my old self :) Hospital appointment Friday, I think they see me as ‘interesting’ . Will get full blood work result then.

Thanks again to those you helped me to get NHS support, if you’re reading, you know who you are.

Hi Archer, Sorry to read you now have this to deal with too.

Maybe you could contact LiverMultiScan folk, (non-invasive and no contrast dye needed).

They were running a trial and I know they were coming towards the end of it, but they may be able to advise how you could get one.

I hope all the help you need is forthcoming soon.

íhi Fhcn, I took hepcivir-l for 12 weeks. If it’s via MonkMed / FixHepC Redemption it will be fine and many are now UND on that medicine, some SVR 4 and maybe (as I sometimes find it hard to keep up) SVR 12. I may have a photo somewhere, will see if I can dig it out for you.

    Thanks RD,

It is further complicated when a patient has cancer or another condition and you have 2 departments with their budgets and consultants that are only concerned with their own field of medicine and health authority bureacracy. Waiting lists for appointments dreadful and chaotic admin with serious errors while livers worsen and cancer grows.

I should also say that I have also been extremely heartened to have encountered a few great NHS medics who are actively trying to help patients among some of the big pharma educated ones, it helps to keep the faith to know there are a few who are still in it for the right reasons, ie Patient Care. They are out there, but doing it quietly so as not to rock the boat and cause further obstacles for patients.

Back to the negative, I have, during my journey, had to encounter one of the worst, arrogant, lying hepatologist who I looked up to discover his training was funded by big pharma.

It has been a very interesting journey, to say the least ! I have learned much and I have experienced both good and bad, the bad has left me reeling with indignation, frustration and anger, the good has given me hope for other patients and direct help personally and those guys are awesome.

ps Sorry AA to rant on your post. Hope all is well with you.

My friend was on an Abbvie treatment, he did have some spikes in Alt, but I think put it down to a herb he had ingested. He also had to take Riba, so your treatment should be easier, of course so long as no known interactions and medical advise.

ps Check your PMs have messaged you.

Each case is different and we all have to make decisions for our own health and evaluate the advice we get from our Medical professionals. In my case this year had I listened to them I wouldn’t be here as I was told NOT to take the generic course but I know it has saved my life.

    Dear Woobia,

I have a friend who is in a similar position, I am trying to help, and I will try to get them to listen regarding this. I am hoping your post may help.. Thank-you so much and I wish you continuing health improvement.

ps I believe NHS England could be guilty of manslaughter. in some cases Strong accusation I know, but that’s how I feel.

    Hi Michael,

    How is your friend doing?

I was UND between 2-4 weeks on the Sofo/Dac. Dr Freeman recommended I add Sunprevir for 4 weeks towards EOT. I’m waiting on VL result taken at 24 weeks. Feeling rather ‘drugged’ but very manageable. I do hope your friend listens to the advise from Dr F on this site and hope all is well with her.

    Hi JF,

I was also on Harvoni generic. At first I had hints of a very mild headache which as others have said, went immediately on drinking water (filtered). My immediate side effects were that I felt much better! consultant said this was due to reduction of imflammation .

4 weeks in I got a cold which turned into a chest infection, it was winter in the uk at the time, but was told this was quite common on this treatment, but if you needed antibiotics you would need advise on which to take before swallowing. Spain of course will be very warm, but if on a boat (you don’t say large or small boat) I would take care not to sit around damp clothes on a windy day!

I can remember the uncertainty & nerves re starting treatment, if I had to do it again, I personally would go to Spain on holiday. I take it you have your EU health card? (use it while you still can!).

Having said all that, there is a small risk , some people have had high blood pressure on starting tx for example. We are all different.

Don’t know if you know, The Spanish healthcare system is very good, but also, private Drs are affordable. There are private Hepatologists in the Malaga area, I looked into that when I was looking for monitoring, I remember also a Dr in Mallorca being mentioned, I think Greg Jeffereys has those details. So you could have a plan in place if needed. Also, cheap flights to return home if you felt concerned.

My feeling is, fresh air, warm sun & relaxing would do you good, but definitely put some ‘what if’ measures into place to be prepared just in case.

Hey Bob, I hope you get some advise. How many weeks have you done? I can’t add up at this time of night ;-)

    LG

(edit) Just re-read in the morning, I see you are one month short of 6 months tx. I am in week 25 of treatment as I am a slow responder and have added a 3rd DAA for the last 4 weeks (Sunprevir) , but I am GT 1a. I would try to speak to Dr Freeman asap or email care@monkmed.com and get a phone appointment with another excellent Dr, Debasis. You will need to allow time for any new meds to be sent if you are advised to do so and if I remember correctly, this is tricky to Ireland?

May I also suggest natural yougurt? It helps with heatburn etc Your symptoms could be stress, we have to deal with so much of it! but no harm in getting checked out?
