the blood services for which you don’t need to get a doctor tend to employ their own doctors. All the results are looked at by a doctor and an interpretation is included in the service.
Yes, think mine was, but don’t know if he was free. Either way, he wasn’t available for whatever reason, for another 6/7 days of them being ready and available, they kept telling me ‘you’ve had a really fast turn-around’ but wouldn’t give me the results! it was nearing a non-working weekend which would have made it a 10 day delay, twice the length of NHS ! I had to really push to get them, even though I had paid for them. I pointed out, that if these were going to be sent to me digitally, then surely they could send them to me and the Dr digitally (Doh) – I think I was irritated as I could tell they were using delaying tactics to get into the weekend where they could suddenly announce ‘sorry it’s not a working day’ .
Ah well, GP is now brill thankfully and if I want the odd test that he doesn’t cover, I’ll look for another option. As my LFTs are all currently within range, maybe I wont cause such a delay next time. I am wondering if the Drs actually get notified unless there are some bloods out of range. Hey ho, we live and learn

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCbut it just gets my goat to pay a consultant just for signing off on some initial tests and then maybe sitting on the results for which I have the extra step of hounding him to get the results.
I hear you DT, It’s like my old consultant who is no doubt being paid well to sit there and spend my whole consultation telling me why I can’t be treated when a phone call or an email would have saved me the bother of traveling and more importantly, the NHS some money for his time doing absolutely nothing except looking superior, being condescending & actual telling a lie for 20 mins . The ‘jobs for the boys’ jolly’ is still alive and kicking , but thankfully, not everywhere. If it’s one thing I’ve learned throughout all of this, is you have to try and hunt out the good Drs, they do exist

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCThe medical fraternity are a bit like the mafia I sometimes
Yes, it does seem that way at times FFox
Re getting past test results, I agree, some Drs / Consultants seem very reluctant, rather frustratingly as it is our own blood they’re testing!
I have found the best way to get these is to ask the receptionist to print them out while you are face to face at the surgery / hospital They usually seem obliging. Have had a ‘fight’ in the past too, thankfully only the one. I was told, in the UK at least, it is our ‘right’ to request and receive them, so I persisted and got there in the end.

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCHi Archer, how are you doing? Improving I hope?
Well, I know once entering week 5 or so into tx, I have been aware that I am very sensitive to sad or bad news or anything stressful, I don’t think this is ‘just me ‘ or ‘my emotional reaction to getting treated’ – I feel it is a chemically induced thing. I guess This may not even be due to the treatment itself but the enormous and rapid changes in our bodies , I mean look at those rapid blood improvements eg? Having said that, it seems logical to me that if you can experience a ‘Harvoni high’ then it’s highly plausable that you could also feel a ‘Harvoni low’ … hmmmmm
Thankfully, for most, this doesn’t seem to occour, although I have read on another forum of post tx depression from someone who had been through alot of previously failed treatments and whose liver is not in good shape at all. This person has never suffered from depression before, not even through interferon / riba tx etc but post Harvoni /Riba she did, for the first time and was sharing her experience for the benefit of others. Of course we cld blame it on the Riba, but do we really know?
I also note that Drs are quick to point out ’emotional responses ‘ in patients when we bring up certain things, I do believe some are and I have definitely had some, but some could most definitely be chemically induced. Just before I got ill with this chest infection, I felt a bit down and depressed, I said at the time, I felt this was a physical not an emotional response. I am quite aware of the changes in my own body and the difference to emotional and physical responses that can effect phsychlogical balance. After all, so many drugs do, along with hormonal changes etc
So could the new meds cause psychotic incidents? My instincts say it is possible, but quite if not very rare.

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCThis is the national price for a fibroscan, I haven’t heard of anyone getting one cheaper than £350, please feel free to let us know anyone who has. Sometimes, things in London are actually cheaper, because there is more choice.

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCYes, I know someone who went to a free testing service in London. They were going to get monitored by them, but in the end, the waiting times for appointments were prohibitative.
You can of course pay for anything you like, there are rules about a Dr request for these, but most testing services have got around this one way or another. The one I onced used, Blue Horizon, my blood test results were held up for nearly a week because a Dr hadn’t looked at them yet. So I suspect these rules do apply here too, they just get around them via a private GP moonlighting & offering their services. VL testing is very expensive here, around the £200 mark, so these tests can really add up. A fibroscan is £350+ – So again, if you have the dosh, you can have the tests, I guess.

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCHi everyone, I find it interesting that other meds, ie Redemption ones are getting delivered. Maybe the amount of sellers has become a safety concern to the authorities and they are trying to keep an eye on things. It wouldn’t look good on India if they were not seen to have at least some controls in place maybe, eg legitimate sellers, prescriptions and that kind of thing? It would only take one thing to go wrong and it could throw their whole stance on patents / access to meds up in the air and subsequently sick patients could suffer in the future.
Also, maybe the international courrier services are tightening up on rules too? I suspect big pharma wouldn’t have to do much except sit back with grins on their faces as the whole thing collapses due to some parties breaking Indian law and not doing things properly. Who would suffer in the end? Those untreated.
As I have said before, I personally chose to go through Redemption / MonkMed because there is an official trial, paperwork all done correctly and legally. This also gave my NHS Drs the extra confidence to support me by way of monitoring, when for many of us, the cost of private monitoring is totally prohobitative, especially in the UK. If the big picture is, to help poor people get access to life saving medicines, then I feel collectively, maybe we should all think about how not to jeopodise all the good work that has been done this far. If this sounds really ‘preachy’ – I don’t mean it that way, I know so many hearts are so totally in the right place, but maybe food for thought?
I really feel for those people whose meds are caught up or delayed, it must be very distressing, I will never forget the feeling of hope when I followed my own little parcel across the world by way of FedEx tracking.
I am not on the Facebook thing, but would again advise those who are freaking out, to seek medications through a trusted reliable source who make sure all the relevant paperwork and legalities are in order. after all, It’s not expensive to get a prescription any more, although quality shipping is a little more!
(edit) and as an added thought, to show respect towards one of the countries that have made our own access to medicines possible at all.
