Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCI agree DT, unfortunately – I have witnessed this at first hand in A & E especially, where I ended up helping the elderly in there who were left moaning and calling out for help. It upset me so much I considered helping out as a volunteer, this was before I became unwell myself, but I may do so when better.

That’s just awful LG. I guess I have been lucky in my journey, my GP is very supportive, medical staff are fabulous and certainly not judgmental.
Hi Lynne, thanks, my GP surgery are actually lovely, but their (nice) nurses aren’t the greatest at taking bloods (for whatever reason) – It was the local hospital receptionist in the Phlebotomy department who did this (she really should know better).
I shall keep on keeping on – and now with some renewed energy thanks all the good people on this site & connected.

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCAriel – How dreadful, “what are you doing here ” – It’s almost enough for me to want to hop on a plane to that clinic say “Ahhhh It’s YOU ! – you’re the receptionist who embarrassed my friend in public when she was sick – Hey, you’re famous on the internet ! ”
Medical receptionists need to be better trained. End of. I read up on this a bit last night and in the UK at least, patient confidentiality is supposed to be adhered to by receptionists (!) I need to read more, but apparently, you can ask to speak to them privately if you wish. I feel this is an important issue as this kind of thing could actually prevent people from seeking help at times – Yep, serious consequences for you to think about receptionists.
I guess I have experienced this so much, that now , at least it doesn’t upset me so deeply, It’s also noted down in my big blue book – it is a matter of principal for me and hopefully some medical people may read and take note to talk to their receptionists. I do think it important that we report such behaviour – I shall wait until EOT then will do so.
On a positive note, yep first bloods done, I asked for just basics, LFTs , CR &E & VL – at week 4, I’ll ask for the whole kaboodle. I made a point of thanking the phlebotomist who said bloods should be done right away & back for Monday (NHS admin obliging) and also wrote a rave review about my GP online, so it’s not all bad You and Debs are right behind me

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCbut this endless judgement, prejudice and obnoxious behaviour we have to endure is outrageous.
Chejai, I am s sorry you have had to experience this too – and it does nothing for our health. When you eventually see someone and they tell you to try to reduce stress – laughable if not so debilitating.
Well, I guess we have taken their advise and reduced stress as recommended by avoiding these people as much as possible !

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCOoooh like it! That giant blue notebook LG! Sounds ominous!
If that receptionist only knewHa ha Debs, I was advised when first diagnosed, to take a large notebook to my first consultant appointment & jot down what they said as there is a ‘steep learning curve’ – So bought a large one with enough space to keep blood results etc all in one place.
In the event, it wasn’t needed, as after 3 months of waiting for my appointment and getting to the hospital with agonising joint pain after their txt reminders not to miss my appointment ,up stairs and down long corridors etc, waiting ages anxiousy in the most overcrowded miserable waiting room, the ‘consultant’ didn’t show up, just leaving a note with reception saying he ‘didn’t want to see me’.
A taste of things to come eh?
LG xx

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCGood morning ladies, I hate to say it, but feel I must. I have an extremely sensitive skin and have tried Elemis and it irritated my skin over a few days use. I am not at all convinced of its purity.
There are very few products that are actually organically pure, your skin is your largest organ, so whatever you put on it, needs to be processed and enters the blood-stream and I guess therefore, the liver. Personally, I try to avoid any toxic products, including household cleaning products and especially laundry and my skin has improved enormously. Why give my already stressed liver and more to deal with, you know?
Here’s a very helpful site : http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/
At the Skin Deep website, you can type any product in the “search” field and it’ll rate the toxicity on a scale from zero to ten (best to worst). Here’s another interesting link for you : http://www.soilassociation.org/Whatisorganic/Organicbeauty
A quote from that website : “Unfortunately, unlike organic food, there are no legal standards for organic beauty products. So as a result, some companies choose to label a product as ‘organic’ even if it only contains 1% organic ingredients or if it contains potentially hazardous substances”
Beware clever marketing with the use of the words ‘natural’ or “nature” etc – Many toxins can occur naturally!
Hope this is helpful

Would you guys take BP meds if your pressure was jumping between 100/75 to 140/80 a lot of the time?
When mine was 145 at one point, my nurse told me that was ‘nothing much to worry about” – I would suggest you ask Dr Freeman or contact MonkMed Drs and get some professional advise.
Best LG

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepCThank-you DT – A great ranty post – it!
What I am wondering is, my GP gave me the lab test sheets to give to the phlebotomist (?)
It had the details on the front page of GP, surgery request and the rest over 3 pages, was precise instructions for each test ie which bottle, lid colour, quantity etc The forms go directly to the lab sealed from the phlebotomist who has to sign it.
So… why did the receptionist feel the need to go through every sheet reading which tests I was having when the GP Surgery request was on the front page? She is a receptionist and a very nosey one at that !I have wondered a few times what receptionists are allowed to know about our medical records and procedures and patient confidentiality. I can imagine if you lived in a small village, everyone would know your business
Just glad that receptionist isn’t working at my GP surgery!Agree re little Hitler syndrome, those types can be found in many walks of life, unfortunately.
I will get round to writing up my experiences, so appalling the HepC Trust said “you couldn’t make it up” ! . I should say though, I have only ever experienced this kind of thing regarding HepC – Every other area of NHS that I have needed consultation with, have been excellent and pleasant too (Ophthalmologists / Breast Cancer screening). I won’t go on, (remembering the ‘physiotherapist’ who told me I needed to ‘see a physiotherapist’ after accessing my medical notes). but that’s another story !
Meanwhile, It’s all in my giant blue note book.
But job done and hoping for a great result for you
Thanks Debs

You are an adult who has made an “informed choice” and would like to receive care even if he can’t condone your pathway
