    Hi FrankieJ :)

I downloaded Dr Freeman’s excellent “GP Cheat Sheet” , my GP was very appreciative of that and also pleased that I was taking the licensed Indian generic path – He also knows Cipla meds well as they are widely used here. My feeling re consultants,is that they are all different and work under different protocols according to their hospitals. Some have a conflict of interest, others have their hands tied and some have open minds and are more free to make their own decisions… All however, should have a ‘Duty of care’ even if they don’t condone this route. If we show we have made an adult informed choice and can provide evidence of supply chair integrity, they should be able to monitor in the role of ‘the Dr who is concerned with your health in the liver department’ – you know’?

The UK HepC forum were very kind to me when I was first diagnosed and distressed, although they have their own style, which is very different to this one ! I have made a few good online friends there. but you’re right, this is a life-saving place :-)

Hi Dr F, Thank-you, You say IU and my bottle says a strange thing , looks like iu but there’s a line in front of that which doesn’t really resemble anything I recognise!

I hear you Debs, maybe it’s a question for a not too busy pharmacist ?! The list is long!

the next about going out at night…with my ultimate being able to run my business properly again. No timeline…not setting myself up for failure but just looking forward now.

Going out at night and actually wanting to see people Yes!
Business too, Regain the energy to ‘want’ to work, with enthusiasm!

I also hear you re the skinny thing, I have had comments about how ‘lucky’ I am to have the ‘perfect figure’
    ( #rant alert ! )
I have not been ‘lucky’ re my weight, my muscles were so weakened they would not suuport my joints, All normal female curves lost, I felt weak and very thin all the time and yep Ariel, cold, even in warm weather. Was disguising my weight-loss with lots of layers.
This is not the ‘perfect figure in my opinion, it is the figure of an ill person and who the hell is STILL promoting this as an ideal in the media? – It took me a very long time to gain 2kgs and I had to start eating non liver-friendly food to gain this. Bad cholestorol went up a bit, but I just knew I had to gain some weight pre-tx. Being this skinny is due to malabsorption and malnutrition – Not an effort to have a ‘good’ figure. – End #rant. Ih yes, and while I’m at it, why are womens magazine full of how to get skinnier diets? We should get those half-price ;-)

Good luck with the public hospital Ariel – I changed mine I was so distressed at the way I was spoken to last visit.
My consultant actually lied to ne and my GP twice stating I had no liver damage and forgetting that my fibroscan resukts were on file and indeed on the same letter at the top! Why?! (oops more ranting)

Having said all that, I am currently in very good spirits he he
    Keep on keeping on
    Big #love
    from Ms Zippety-dooh-dah

Edit : Hi Chejai, I guess this virus can mess with the metabolism either way. Here’s to the skinnies getting fatter and also the other way around :-) #love

    Hi Debs & Ariel,
I had a sort of low grade sound previously, like when your music speakers are on, but you’re not playing anything.
There is sort of a slight (how to describe!) ermm whine in there, almost a note but not !
White noise – Radio type frequency?
    Definitely speaker / electronic ‘hissy’
This would come and go pre tx.

Now it seems more prounced and appears to be worse in the morning after I have taken the medicine
and also late at night, but thatcould just be because these are quiet times. This morning it’s at its worst.
Think I’m going to go totally decaff, to see if it makes a difference.

    xx

I agree re David Bowie. my point though, is about the rise in liver cancer, particularly for those age 50+
A dear friend has just been disgnosed and yes, he does have HepC. I didn’t know.
Unfortunately, he slipped through the NHS net, as he was diagnosed when it was non A/B.
His consultant told him he ‘didn’t need to see him any more, as he seemed well’.
The hospital failed to contact him for many years and administrative errors were at fault.
    Now, he is very ill.

The baby-boomer message needs to get through, those born pre 1965.
Many people who have taken iv drugs, have more support with testing
It’s my belief that there were many other routes, non hygenic medical practices for a start – everywhere!
School vaccinations, 70s dentists (shudder), not taught to avoid others spilled blood, blood brothers/sisters fad
Young offenders places where they all did home tattoos , home done tattoos! prisons …
    Blood transfusions!

Stigma is a terrible thing, it must be challenged.
