    Lots of good reading here:

    Indian Patent Challenge:

ABBVIE RECEIVES CHMP POSITIVE OPINION FOR VIEKIRAX® (OMBITASVIR/PARITAPREVIR/RITONAVIR TABLETS) + EXVIERA® (DASABUVIR TABLETS) WITHOUT RIBAVIRIN FOR THE TREATMENT OF CHRONIC HEPATITIS C IN GENOTYPE 1B:

    http://hepatitiscnewdrugs.blogspot.com/2016/02/abbvie-receives-chmp-positive-opinion.html

This version of the Guidance has been updated to reflect several important developments, including the recent approval of elbasvir/grazoprevir:

Why Americans pay so much more for drugs:

    http://hepatitiscnewdrugs.blogspot.com/2016/02/why-america-pays-so-much-more-for-drugs.html

Quoted from the above article. Steve Miller, chief medical officer of Express Scripts wrote:

“The U.S. is 4.6 percent of the world’s population, we’re 32 percent of the world’s drug revenue, and we’re somewhere between 50 and 70 percent of world drug profitability,” Miller said. “The United States has been spending money to protect the world for decades. We’re now being asked to essentially fund all pharmaceutical drug development. … We cannot continue to carry this burden.”

Of the hundred or so polls, one being Fox News, I found, all but three show Clinton beating anyone currently on the Republican ticket by a comfortable margin. The closest is Rubio and he is not that close, but things can change.

There was an interesting political cartoon is the national papers today. It showed Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate leader having a nightmare. His nightmare: The next president appoints Obama as Supreme Court justice.

    That is a Republican nightmare.

Sometimes I wonder why people are so upset with Obama. Stock market at all time highs, unemployment the lowest its been in almost 20 years. Not fighting in any major wars. 22 million people have health insurance that did not before ObamaCare. I find it odd that most of the people howling about the government bailing out big companies and banks are driving huge Chevrolet pick up trucks. Without the bail out, they would just have Fords now.

Rubio would probably be OK, but he’s not extreme enough for the folks who have split the Republican party.

    I have no answers.
If I were a researcher wanting something worthwhile to research, I might try to locate a bunch of identical twins, one of whom was a long-time HCV sufferer who achieved SVR using DAAs. Now, there is a bone with some meat on it….

And then, you have the “age” factor. The last time I was “normal”, was almost three decades ago. So, on a personal level, tracking and identifying HCV, HCV tx and age-related symptoms, both physical and emotional, is going to be a “work in progress”.

    Good Points.
I think this is one area where the old adage “time will tell” is right on the money. The old tx caused so much damage its hard to tell where the lingering effects of HCV ended and the tx after effects began. As more and more people “come on line” as SVR after tx with the DAAs, the picture should begin to clear, hopefully. These drugs were fast tracked and we are all participants in a huge clinical trial. Maybe FHC’s future lies in post tx monitoring and evidence collection as well as the complete eradication of HCV.

Congratulations to all!! That we have all been saying that a lot is certainly an understatement,
Things keep going, we can become the Hobart Social Club and play ukuleles together online every Saturday night. Then we would get into the Saturday night here, Sunday afternoon there “time warp”.

Oh well. Still some battles to be fought yet in this little war before mustering out.
I’m 37 days post tx. Halfway to the finish line. I have been free of all drugs, other than my daily 10mg lisinopril, for 10 days or more. Getting rid of the Lexapro was not pleasant, but feeling like a carefree zombie was not my style. So, I will give my “Six Week Summary”:
Pretty simple really. If I get my normal 6-7 hours sleep, I feel great. Not good, better than good. A “spring in you step, smile on your face” kind of feeling. A good nights sleep is critical for me to feel like that. The good news is that sleep comes easily now. A little dreamy on occasion, but just deep sleep mostly. Deep sleep equals maybe one or two trips to pee, which is nice.
As a teacher, I am exposed to contagious shit constantly. A gallon of hand sanitizer lasts about a month on my desk at school. Each winter I could count on at least 2 or 3 colds, which always ended up in my chest and lasted about 10 days. Two minor scratchy throats the odd sniffle this year. Nothing different with the kids. They are coughing and snotting all over the place as usual. There is something different with me. Imagine a bully picking on a seasoned, special forces type on a little beach-front R&R, a look would probably suffice. My immune system must have some highly honed anti-viral skills to have fought for so long successfully.
    Weight, BP and appetite-perfect.
    I have old knees, though.
    I can deal with them.
I hope others fare as well.
    Mike
