You can get one online at GP2U. Since generics aren’t sold in the U.S., one from Australia should work for your purposes.

I have just been informed that Anthem is no longer denying treatment based on fibrosis scores. That is what all that gobbledygook means. They still have that really smelly alcohol/drug requirement. Doctors, who had patients who were denied tx by Anthem under the old criteria based on F scores, are calling to tell them they need to request approval under the new guidelines. There seems to be some litigation looming against Anthem that forced them to relax their restrictions on coverage.
I was told by a reliable source late last year that some BIG changes were coming for HCV suffers in the U.S. I guess this might be one of them.

    We will see.

Here is the take on the previous criteria by a well-known medical professional HCV activist

“First, the 2 insurance documents in this thread open the door to treating F0-F4. The only restrictions they continue to have that aren’t consistent with the HCV guidelines http://www.hcvguidelines.org/ are those pertaining to drug and alcohol use. However, there are ways to work around that.

RE Child-Pugh – technically it could be applied to everyone, but its only clinically significant when someone is cirrhotic. In the case of the Anthem criteria, they are using to determine which treatment is appropriate, and not using it to exclude earlier fibrosis stages.”

“About the Child-Pugh, here’s another way of looking at it:
You could apply it to anyone, but why? Just like you could apply the Glasgow Coma Scale to assess my consciousness level, but given that I am sitting at my computer rather than in a neuro ward, you wouldn’t.
So, if a patient presents with obvious cirrhosis, than a C-P score is warranted.”

I still can’t decipher it. I believe it was crafted to be that way.
I’m no good at math either.

Folks in the U.S. reading this.
    You can do this too!!

Another story of successful importation of affordable HCV treatment:

    Hi Mike,

The meds have arrived. It feels awesome. They came through without any hassles because i had the prescription and the letter from the doctor. My friend will start the treatment probably by the end of this week and very hopefully of killing the virus. i think the customs and usfda has realized the importance of these drugs and looks like they are not interested in checking each and every parcel.

I thank you for the meaningful information you have been sharing on the forum and helping out so many people out there.. Also have thanked Parag Jain from Bull Pharmachem, he has been helpful

    thanks

One of the first things a teacher must realize:

You can’t force someone to learn. You can expose them to knowledge in an interesting and engaging manner.
Set the plate, so to speak. The eating, they have to do on their own.

That dt, is the $94,000 question…
Cattle…lined up at the slaughter house while the gate is open and they are free to go.
    I am simply amazed.
I communicate daily with people who say: “I really want to believe the generics are real”, or “I would like to order generics but they are not FDA approved”. And so on…
    I just don’t know…
    Sad.

    We are moving backward.

The above info was reply from a moderator on HepMag. You know, the one with all the Harvoni ads.

    OK,
    Did some homework:

Alcohol abuse: my insurance considers that to be >3 drinks per day

Nearly all insurers require a signed statement regarding alcohol and drug “abuse”.

Harvoni has never been tested for pediatric use.

    Compensated Liver Disease:
According to the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD, 2009, 2015),
    the specific criteria for compensated liver disease include all of the following: a total bilirubin;
serum albumin; prothrombin time/INR; presence of ascites; and presence of hepatic
encephalopathy. However, these criteria do not establish a comprehensive definition of
compensated liver disease. The AASLD guidance refers to compensated liver disease as
Class A based on the Child Pugh-Turcotte (CPT) classification scoring system.

So, is anyone with liver disease that has not progressed would be a child A and thus considered compensated Liver Disease?
No, Child Pugh is a measure of cirrhosis severity

I don’t know what last year’s criteria was based on. I think F-3/4. If so, this is a big step backward. This requirement has been the major reason for denial of tx in the U.S.

My insurance is through the state. There are 80,000 members in the group. My total premium is $470.00 a month. My portion is $180.00. As far as I know from FOI documents, I am the only one ever covered for HCV treatment who was not on the transplant list.
I had to fight like hell to get it.
I had the ability to take the fight them.
    Many don’t.

    Yes,
It would seem easier just to say we will cover you if you are going to die, but not expire in the next 12 months. This is our battle in the U.S. against the private insurance system. Why this site is not overrun with refugees from that situation amazes me. People seem to be so “conditioned” to following the rules and accepting the status quo.
I see no end to it in the foreseeable future.
