That is good infomation. Many in the U.S., myself included, are frequent travellers to the E.U. where a U.S. Passport is all that is required. I checked the Australian embassy website.
For U.S. Citizens reading this & planning on buzzing Down Under for a treatment tour: Check the embassy website. The visa application process is straightforward and can be done online, but requires rounding up some documentation and such. Plan time for that and processing.

I started a new topic on HepMag: Australian Q & A. Many of you could probably provide a lot of “A”s that I can not. Might want to keep an eye on it.

According my research, medhelp is privately held and very protective when it comes to disclosing its funding sources. If I am wrong, please advise. It seems that, given their stance, they are funded by a very anti generic entity.

He is a true St. James in my book. Just pure, simple compassion coupled with desire, and ability. I honestly think he and his vision will deal the death blow to the absurd prices being charged for HCV treatment.

On absurd pricing, since we are going to see much more of this as diseases are treated at the genetic level: the government (FDA) needs to work with the company on a reasonable pricing policy before granting approval. Simply put, if its a breakthrough drug, there must be a great need for it. Where there is need, you will find greed lurking nearby. We need to learn from the Greediad experience. Once the horse is out the barn door, its hard to stop. You need to put a halter on that beast before you open the door.

Basically, a $10,000 bundle of new $100 bills is 1/2 inch thick. Stack up a trillion dollars, and you have a stack 670+ miles high.

Bottom line, Gilead has made and is making a shit load of money. They are not Salks or Curies. Gilead’s ENTIRE reason for for existence is to make as much money as possible. Bottom line. Period. End if story. I want cutting edge medical research to continue to be financially rewarding, but the system needs balance.
The global average market price for a cure seems to be around $2000 (+/-) when you take Gilead’s stranglehold out of the equation. So, The price in the U.S. Is artificially high. We need, as they say on Wall Street, a market “correction”. A viable, affordable alternative will do that. We are getting close. I can feel it.
