I went to the Dr yesterday to get my SVR12. The virus is back. Count was 3,300,000. We’re doing a retest, but I’m just not optimistic. I guess I need to do a full 24 weeks now…….;(
What do you think, doc?
Hi Splitdog,
I am off to have my blood taken for my hoped for SVR12 tomorrow. I did 24 weeks and at this time I do not think the virus is around. But I will know for sure after the test comes back. I purposely did not have tests after EOT, just one in Nov 2015 and one in Jan 2016 while on treatment.
Best wishes and let us know the next strategy – it may be helpful for me to know what to do if my test comes back no good. And your calm demeanour is reassuring for me as well.

keep posting – I like all the graphic stuff.

P.S. hope you see SVR 12 soon (well at least in 12 weeks)
They move quick!
You involved with the RPA? Once I got there I felt like my backside was spinning with the tests etc. And once there I handed over the ‘driver’s’ keys and things went well.
Hope/know things will do well for you.
Oddly enough, I found that having a HCC for me mainly just added another reason to dislike the virus.

Hi Archer,
I hope my little bit may be of some help. It is basically advice my G.P. gave me in 2012 when I found out I had a HCC.
“You (that is me) have to keep on top of this – make calls and follow it up and don’t rely on the ‘chain’ (just making an appointment and waiting) being safe; make sure it is”. He also explained how the ‘system’ works but it only needs one weak link….
Me being here is evidence that the system works, but then again I found it has a lot of moving parts and needs a driver – the only reliable candidate being me. HCC is less of a worry if you act this way I think.
Best wishes for dealing with this.

Quoting Woobia 22 “I personally would see out the full cycle and complete the 6 months or whatever was recommended by the Docs but we are all different.”
Me too.
The only time I went against a doctor telling me something was when I was told to wait for treatment back in October 2015. But that was the exception that proves the rule I expect. Best wishes for your treatment and a good outcome along with the rest of us.

“I am still on the cautious side and am doing a reasonable job of having the least booze as possible. Managed to get used to having a few lights every fortnight maybe; although I did like a bit of Red – maybe a glass next time at a restaurant.”
Quoting myself from some time back in this thread, but mainly responding to Gaj’s post above.
I did get round to having that glass (a rather large and full one) of red. Felt the difference and the main difference would be the alcohol content. Not feeling terrible, but feeling if I would have had more I might have.
Perhaps it is better that I am used to life sans too much booze, and I try not to tempt fate too much. No more Red – just another loss suppose.

“And not to forget who is on the side of monopolists… Bill Gates ( former CEO of Microsoft) just declared US drug pricing system is better than most and that Gilead’s prices are justified: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-06-…tem-better-than-most
For sure when reading such “wisdom” one barely can handle the own anger,”
I started to go off that bloke after Windows 3.1. Eventually wised up in 2011 and went Apple all together. But of course stuck with Windows 7 and Word for work and Uni, and for my wife using Word at Uni too.
I found the whole experience with that corporation’s products (with some relief via Win 98 and XP at home, and now 7 at work) more traumatising then the Hep C virus. Had bought a laptop with Vista and one for my wife with Windows 8 (Bill did not do that one?) which is considerably worse. What were they thinking???
I don’t think Mr Gates is really qualified to talk about software least of all Gilead’s pricing structure. I think the ‘market’ they manipulate eventually tricks them into believing their own bullshit.

Just thinking …..
“As you can see, despite the booze, Wullie’s enzyme levels are still trending downwards after EOT, and so it looks like his liver is still going through a process of recovery and re-building, now that he is finally free of that bastard virus.”
We used to joke about mates doing their liver in with the grog. The booze has nothing on HCV for buggering up the liver it appears. In hindsight, HCV is a much use as the plague – not that I would ever think I was bitter about its company with me.
Jeff
“CONCLUSIONS: The risk of HCC after HCV cure, while considerably reduced, remains relatively high at 0.33% per year. Older age and/or presence of cirrhosis at the time of SVR are associated with a high enough risk to warrant surveillance. Diabetes is also a risk factor for post SVR HCC.”
Always seems to come full circle treatment wise – get treated ASAP before your liver takes a beating (and you grow older).

Price wrote:Both acute and chronic ethanol exposure can modify immune responses to bacterial and viral pathogens.
“In conclusion, the data presented in this study support the notion that ethanol has wide-ranging suppressive effects on inflammatory immune responses,” – does this mean it’s a good thing??

Hi Ariel,
Was going to ask you to make some for me, but mine are in crummy black and white.
But maybe you could photoshop out the scarring so I don’t worry as much; or for some of our friends who have livers not bad enough for treatment to be covered, add some marks here and there?

Hi London Girl,
wish I had that scan thingo here 18 years ago – they stabbed me five times during a liver biopsy!
Could not get a fibroscan recently because of a previous liver resection – so I am guessing about F scores but have to accept F3 -> F4…
I am also a bit worried about ongoing scans (for HCC) that may involve contrast dyes. Necessary, but I often worry about having too much of a good thing.
yours
Jeff
P.S.
did you get around to making a T shirt with the scan on it?? -
