Hi Ariel
Small world and so good to see you here and getting the treatment that you require. Good luck with your first week and welcome to some new found energy. You will blitz this tx in comparison to your last attempt. Godspeed and good health oo Em
Hey Em nice to see you here
Busy day for me I wound up being evacuated from a local bushfire
Guess what I grabbed to take when I left the property???
My meds hahaaahaaaa!!! I even forgot my iPhone cord but grabbed my noon o’clock magic pills and bolted like a brumby on heat
The fire was 4km away when the first CFA alert came through it said “too late stay in the house” etc
Ahh. No thanks I bolted! Off to the beach and a friends until the fire was contained! What a day!Holy crap Ariel!
glad you and your meds are safe
Cheers Em

Don’t be sorry at all
This is the information that people need to know what the reality is about Peg/Inte & riba. When I was diagnosed (2012) I ran out of my GP’s room in tears, following this I went home and looked into treatment options which in New Zealand is Peg/int & Riba and for me being GT1a a 48week ride. After researching these two drugs to say I was terrified is an understatement, for a while there I had thoughts of suicide……
Lucky for me I gave myself a kick up the ass and got on with things xx

Ariel wrote:Hi girls hi Tina
I haven’t had a cycle since the first peg/inf they just disappeared and never came back
I don’t know if I had menopause because I was too sick from that tx to really tell.
Before peg/inf I was okay but I suspect peri-menopausal
I have two adult children I wonder if hepC brings on early change of life because my friends were not having their cycle all over the place like mine was for a few years before I was diagnosed then the peg/inf/riba just nuked whatever was left anyway
I’m never going to do any hormone replacement either it’s way too dangerous I think because of my family history of BC
Did anyone else find that peg/inf nuked whatever youthjuice they had too?
Good topic
HugsHi Ariel thanks for your input
I am fortunate in that I have not had any previous treatment with Peg/int & riba, you make a very valid point that you suspect they – and I quote “nuked you” LOL!! you crack me upOn a slightly more serious note though it all the more reason DAA’s should be the mainstay treatment for HCV and not Riba & peg/int.

Congrats!
isn’t it a nice feeling not seeing numerous stars highlighting abnormal LFT’s
Well wishes for the journey ahead.

Hey ladies thank you for your input its good to have opened dialogue about this. I also think that HCV has a lot to answer for when it comes to the issues and symptoms that have been covered in this thread – in particular your comment Coral and how the liver plays a substantial role in hormone regulation.
I also strongly suspect that HCV could be a key factor contributing to premature babies and miscarriage (I know that’s a bold statement to make without any evidence) however with that in mind the liver plays an enormous role in all body systems. Im going to have a chat to my specialist about my suspicions and will report back.
I have not yet had any kids (just a big white fluffy dog so far). I am sad to hear of the miscarriage’s I cant begin to fathom how rough that would of been for youLG, gotta say that last consultant who dismissed you how bloody ignorant. Makes me annoyed that specialists are sometimes guilty of concentrating on the area of their expertise and don’t look at a patient as a whole. I’m happy for you that you didn’t settle for the status quo & had the guts to go out there and find a consultant that took your health seriously. Go you

Debs, Lynne & Joy thank you for getting back to me and for putting a smile on my face. My nurse specialist has been in contact and advised me that cycles can become a little messed up whilst taking DAA’s. If things haven’t resolved in the next few days I will be going to see her. For now at least until I start nightshift tonight its the couch and cuddles with my dog.

Oh Joy on another note that’s awesome about your flushes going since being on treatment, makes me wonder if treatment has an effect on oestrogen and estrogen?? mmmm interesting.

Hey Zhuk
That’s wonderful you are noticing a difference after such a short time of being on treatment, it was the same for me also.
Its like getting to know a new version of yourself and in essence I liken it to being re born.
