Agreed, that will be the ultimate indication. Yep I couldn’t conceive of that kind of workload heh…a great example of how specifically individually the virus presents.

ALT 26Good to hear you’ll be out of the grip of Riba soon Hamilton…you’ve had to do it harder than many of us here fortunate enough not to be subjected to it. All the best – the last 12 weeks should be a breeze by comparison . Great stuff

I probably wouldn’t have given up myself but for a case f flu so bad it was almost pleurisy… Couldn’t smoke after that even when I tried. Then a couple of years later I took up my passion which is sports shooting – and I’d rather spend $ on ammo than smokes any day

ALT 26Appreciate that, Dr J. Im vegetarian and have been taking vit B12 supplements until recently when a blood test end of Nov showed up levels over the maximum (@ least according to Hanley Moir) of 765. Also have lowish ferritin of 66 for which is take supplementation, but no docs have ever really remarked on either very much, apart from you might want to think about tabs.
So, all the spinach obviously isn’t helping lol

ALT 26Thanks Debs You and LG will be there soon too.
Couldn’t agree more on forgetting the most obvious names for things…I remember holding a fork once and COULD NOT remember what the hell it was called lol Knew what it was for (good sign!) but no idea it was called “fork”, even after a lot of thought. Bit disturbing
And calling people by the wrong names, even after you’ve know them for years…/mega facepalm lol

ALT 26Cheers Jaz
Hear you on the brain fog, even in such early days – like my mental faculties are gradually beginning to wake up after years of being semi-conscious. Having had decades of psych issues as well (dating back to early childhood) I have noticed that the last 15 years having to put up with my body doing a lot of weird shit re chronic pain etc that I’d been having a harder and harder time with it mentally – especially since my botched shoulder op last year. Now even despite that (with the ultimate prognosis up in the air, with little support from the public health system overall) I don’t feel quite as desperate as I did. Amazing (as Dr James points out) how far the reach of hep C extends.

ALT 26Haha, love that imagery Mike!
And there are less places at the table now I would definitely agree. Brings to mind that old saying “What if they gave a war and nobody came?”
I gotta say a minigun works for me too Lol
Day 4 and the liver pain is lessening gradually..I think we must be achieving a decimation of sorts! Less headache than yesterday too, has become more of a background noise (keep up the H20). The beginnings of clarity still present.
Something interesting for you LG – I think I might possibly be getting a bit less scrawny already, and I don’t think I’m imagining it. If you consider the daily battle against a trillion-multiplying virus that we have all been up against for so many years, it wouldn’t surprise me how much of a basic systemic toll on energy that entails, year in year out. Have not changed my food intake/profile either.

ALT 26Good to hear you’re gearing up for treatment now Ariel. Reading your ferritin score, I checked out a blood test I had done by my GP in Nov (my liver clinic don’t usually bother to check iron/B12 etc) and my level is 66 – right, confused now as no doc has mentioned it before. Weirdly my B12 is over the maximum stated range (765) which doesn’t seem to make a whole lot of sense.
One thing I’ve learned about the past year spent in and out of public hospitals/waiting rooms is that you can get some very contradictory opinions from the medical profession on the same subject lol

ALT 26Lol, Paul
Hmm not sure if I’ll be speeding tomorrow! in fact I’ve been getting sleepy at times heh – but not the crushing fatigue which usually hits me. Weirdly enough, compared to the insomnia many seem to experience, I’ve slept with a bit less waking than I usually do (and because of nerve problem I can only sleep on one side) So that’s pretty damn interesting heh.
Liver pains continued intermittently today and the expected headaches turned up, lessened when I drank more water. Was fleetingly almost nauseous at one point lol…but overall the whole thing is very minimal

Fingers crossed yes Debs…its the feeling of being under a constant cloud, like you want to shake your head to disperse it, but can’t. As well as forgetting/not comprehending embarassing simple things/concepts sometimes. There have been moments before I knew that hep caused this issue when I wondered if I was on the cards for early-onset Alzheimers (my dad suffered from it) Thank god I know differently on that score now.

ALT 26Will do LG!
Overall there is really very little to speak of yet – just waiting for it to build up in my bloodstream for a better picture. And us both being lightweights, we will get a larger dosage…like I said on another thread, extra “insurance” heh
Ha, you are spot-on there Paul! If we weren’t looking for minutiae then you’d probably not notice much. The slight feeling that something has “lifted” in my head isn’t my imagination though I’m sure

ALT 26Yes Paul, things are definitely happening – clearly a lot going on in there heh. Getting a bit more liver pain/pressure (as you’ve said in your posts this seems common to many) and a generalised ‘buzzing’ sensation in my legs, bit of stomach pain too (but then I had that pre-tx so can’t put it down to the meds). Minimal if any headaches as yet (could be due to massive fluid intake lol) but I’m pretty sure my head feels clearer already – which is pretty impressive for only the 3rd day.
Definitely a battle raging I reckon!
