Can somebody on a computer take screenshots of the thread so we’ve got a copy of it for posterity? I’m off to bed and not expecting it to still exist in the morning.

ALT 26Sure is, Tina
Check out the thread ‘VA ‘Can’t Afford’ Tx for vets-CBS News’…this is Joy’s take
“The story was on my TV tonight . . it is quite extensive and certainly should be enough to move . . something . .
Of course they’re painting Gilead as the ‘greedy bad guy’ and totally smoothing over the reason WHY so many vets need tx . . ‘Bloody battles and inoculations OVERSEAS’ . . right.
But, it gets Sovaldi and Harvoni onto a major network’s news . . and . . well, you’ll see . . ”
Gilead the greeedy bad guy??? Heaven forbid hmy: Lol

ALT 26Welcome AA, great to have you here. Have a look round the site and feel free to ask any question…as Mike said, this is where you will find the keys to a life free of this scourge. Hear you on the clueless and/or unhelpful specialists telling you to wait – hey we’ve all been there – if by some miracle the meds do get Cabinet approval at their exhorbitant pricetag, you can bet it won’t be universal availability. So if you’re not almost out for the count with fibrosis (but not too far!), you’ll have to get at the back of a very, very long queue.
All the best

ALT 26I reckon yes, LG. 12 wks might be a bit overkill for those of us less affected, but I’d rather give it the greater chance to knock off all the bastards. Plus, considering we are both lightweights, we are going to get a greater dose per/kg bodyweight than those of average build, which pharma sets standard dosages for.
I would rather be sure…I’ve only got one shot at this

ALT 26Damn, you have a lot on your plate without the hep adding to it, Chej! Sorry to hear you seem to have been given almost equally as much runaround trying to get your other issues sorted as the hep has been. It could potentially have some kind of auto-immune component, looking into lupus could be worthwhile.
And the sooner you get started on tx, the sooner you will be able to rule out that as a contributing factor. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

ALT 26Hi sonix, welcome to the forum.
Paul has set you on the right track with the basics; armed with your test results/fibroscan score you will be able to be advised which of the meds is best suited. When I had my online consult with Dr James I had initially thought as a G1a I’d be going for a Sof/led combo but the doc explained that sof/daclatasvir is just as efficacious, and with a higher logkill ratio. He will be able to sort you out and give you the script, so no need to worry if your GP isn’t amenable.
Hear you on not being able to work out what are hep C symptoms and what might be other issues…particularly if you’ve been prescribed paroxetine in the past, can have a nasty withdrawl profile. I’ll be interested to see if treatment improves my pain level; I’ve had chronic pain for 14 years and I never really know how much of it actually is that, or the hep
Hey Chejai For my GP2U appt I didn’t use skype, if you have Chrome browser that works fine. My appt was arranged with via phone, but if you check out the site you will see Dr J’s available slots.

ALT 26Great news klhilde, that is an awesome result mate Must be a real relief to see those figures (or, lack of them), sets that niggling question “Is it really working?” to rest well and truly!
And yes down here in the unfashionable Hemisphere, quantitative results take roughly a week/week & a half. Yeah would be great if we could access our results online, but can’t see that happening too soon – I had no idea of my VL until about 3 weeks ago (no one obviously thought I needed to know, in 27 years lol)
And the clinic had to mail it to me
