Great post, well said mike. You know I’ve been following your posts over there, would throw you some support if they hadn’t blocked my registration heh

Let’s see if this thanksgiving shoutout falls on more fertile ground…I really hope so, for all those who need it. Fingers crossed :)

Damn, frustrating for you Chejai! Sorry to hear you’ve had a run-around re getting hold of your specialist. Not surprised you were gobsmacked on the Intf suggestion  with you looking to access the new meds that makes no sense whatsoever.

I agree with you; ultrasound seem a very haphazard way of trying to obtain fibrosis status – is there no way your clinic can organiise a fibroscan? If you haven’t had one since 2013 as you say a lot can change in a couple of years.

Fingers crossed for your GP to get the ball rolling on Monday mate :)

    Hi CJ

I looked up Minomycin…is that the right med?

    Its a tetracycline

MINOMYCIN is used to treat acne, which is resistant to other antibiotics. It is also used to treat various other infections.

MINOMYCIN belongs to a group of antibiotics called tetracyclines. They work by stopping the growth of bacteria.

Your doctor may have prescribed MINOMYCIN for another purpose.

    http://www.mydr.com.au/medicines/cmis/minomycin-tablets

And the hep-interaction table seems to be fine for Sof/Led :)

Good idea Bloot, why I asked as well…and Dr James will have it all in hand. Pre-tx we really have to know huh.

But now my clinic is onboard with monitoring I don’t they’ll be reticent in future.

yea, i just thought they always gave you the viral load numbers with the test. They say the numbers don’t mean anything but I’m always wondering how many of em are in there chewing on my parts.

Lol :) I had the same reaction 2b…and now I know how many (260,000 roughly) I wonder what its been for the last 27 yrs lol

But yeah – I only got a rough printout of my test results mailed to me the other week because I asked for them. Prior to that it just verbal ALT levels at the yearly visit…maybe at a low fibrosis level they didn’t think it was important (and the decision had been made long ago that I wasn’t a good candidate for Intf/Riba)

Cheers em. Yeah its a liver clinic not a GP, so I’m guessing they’ve had it on file. Its only because of what I’ve read since joining up here that I thought of asking for it  lol

So it’s usual to be told your VL? I never knew what mine was until I asked about it when having a blood test a couple of weeks ago

And we at the buyers club are trying to assist the Australian Government save a small fortune. If the this government deals with Gilead and of course they will as they signed the patent. So lets say they cut the cost down to $50K per tx and provide every hepper in Australia with access, this will cost $10 Billion. Umm this isn’t going to be funded so who will miss out??

From what I’ve been able to gather, in countries like the UK, Canada as far as percentages of those triaged for treatment go its around 10% of the infected population who receive tx ie those badly off (but not too badly)

No matter what line is currently being pushd by the PBAC and major advocacy groups, Australia is not going to be the first/only country in the world to allow universal access.

The alternative just don’t turn up to the meeting with Gilead talk to the knowledgeable folk here at buyers and strike up a deal with a generic pharma for $1000 per tx. Total cost $233 million verses $10 billion. Shit the health minster could win the Nobel fucking peace prize for fiscal responsibility and human kindness. Em

Lol yeah. That would be the absolutely most logical (and dare I say, compassionate) approach. But to stick two fingers up at Gilead, as India has done? No Aust Govt is going to have the balls to do that, no matter how many people’s lives are at stake.

So I think Susan Ley misses out on her trip to Stockholm lol
