Interesting point on the hair clippers. The blades can be removed via screws but of course the whole unit cannot be cleaned/immersed. I have been cutting my own hair with them since the 80s and there hasn’t been one time that I’ve drawn any blood – maybe hairdressers/barbers aren’t as careful I dunno. You do tend to go a lot slower with DIY though lol

Cindi, yours and J’s story and journey to recovery is one of the most moving I’ve read on this site. That your boy now has a life ahead of him, unburdened by the fear of what may happen down the track…and that the conventional medical profession wanted to give him Intf/Riba

Well I don’t think the word ‘miracle’ is too strong…I reckon nothing short of a AO for both of them :)

Great to hear you’ve joined the January tx list too, CC!

Most of us seem to have few sides, hard to believe its working sometimes heh. Very positive that you’re able to get monitored with no hassle as well.

All the best for your treatment journey and look forward to a great result :)

Great to hear you’re on the tx journey now too Honker, only 2 weeks to go :)

One recommendation if you have the means, get to Cradle Mountain if you possibly can – breaktaking scenery and lots of hiking opportunities. Visited in 1996 and I really wish I could go back there.

Chejai – mea culpa for my absence over the past week and finally getting to your thread. Brilliant that you’ve started tx now and are feeling the benefits already :cheer: Particularly great to hear you are sleeping better, despite your nerve pain…mine is of a far lower magnitude than what you must endure, those are some heavy-duty pain meds. Reading over your pre-treatment symptoms you’ve improved so much already! Really great to hear.

Fingers well crossed for the rest of your tx :) Apologies again for being late to the party lol

Following your initial post on Splitdog’s thread, great that you have the ball rolling now MtGoat. That’s an impressively low VL too, I don’t think you’ll have any issues. Looking forward to hearing of your progress.

Heh you are right, isaing! The bastards were indeed many – and most have been decimated now, only the more persistent stragglers left

As LG says, you can have detectable levels at EOT and still go on to achieve SVR, so I wouldn’t be worrying at 4 weeks. Easy to say I know, when you read of others getting UND by that time. But there’s still a long way to go :)

Congrats for taking the reins and deciding enough was enough, GF. Another 1a here, in a few similar position to you fibrosis & stats-wise. I too thought why wait until we have become more symptomatic and our livers more compromised in order to access tx at some future date?

Good on you for being proactive and kicking off the fight now. And hard as it is to believe, it does work, as you’ve noticed already. All the best :)

Definitely a case of finding the right doc Ariel, and some can be hidden in deep cover amongst collegues in the same clinic who are steadfastly against the monitoring of those on generics…it was just a fluke that my usual liver doc happened to be one of those well disposed. The increasing numbers of professionals in Australia willing to monitor as time goes on is a very positive move, and can only increase as the Govt-supplied meds eventually roll out.

I could not agree with you more that we are extremely fortunate to have men of such compassion as Dr James and Greg who dared to stand up against the rest of the medical profession and take the courageous steps to help sufferers, when no one else was prepared to take the risk. What a debt we all owe them.

Yeah Zhuk, welcome back, so glad you’re still alive and kicking, and sleeping well on meds. Onward and upward to SVR…

Thanks very much Joy, I really appreciate it :)

I am apparently unafflicted by the insomnia issue yeah…so I feel very fortunate there. I’ve also started a very low dose of one of the old-style tricyclic antidepressants for chronic pain, and I bet that is helping too. Rather impatiently waiting for 4 week bloods now…by all accounts it has to bbe working – but the numbers are a reassurance huh!
