Welcome back big guy!
Like old times again.
I thought I was going to have to buzz down and see if the drop bears got you.
MHa Mike! Well yeah I’ve avoided the drop bears, true…though I gotta say I think tourists are their main preference
Notice you’re at the end of your treatment now – great stuff mate

ALT 26Hey thanks Tina! I think you are spot-on there – we have to discover the real us which was underneath the clouded veneer of the virus. Definitely don’t feel as beleagured as I usually do…hmm so that wasn’t completely all “me” then?
I think there’s going to be a real re-evaluation in store for all of us

ALT 26Great to read about everyone’s varied reactions here. I didn’t get any real ‘euphoria’ after starting tx, though on the 3rd day I had a distinct feeling of “wellbeing” at least a couple of times – a very foreign sensation as I’ve had depression and PTSD since early childhood (had the thought ‘wow, so is this what “normal” people feel like!’ lol)
Since then I haven’t felt that again but there is a definite lifting of the heavy “weight” I seem to have been carrying for so long. I contracted hep in 1988 at a point when I was very unwell mentally with extended periods in the psych ward – so I guess it would only have contributed for sure in the decades since. Looking forward to having a life (that’s a novel concept!) unburdened by this pernicious bastard of a disease is going to be very welcome

ALT 26Hey cheers guys Thanks for the shout-outs, kinda touching to know I’ve been missed heh
Comms seem to have been restored now, so all good. Treatment is still fairly uneventful, weirdly I’m sleeping better than before contrary to many others experiences of insomnia. Liver twinges have all but gone now, and no more crushing exhaustion – really is amazing isn’t it, hard to believe such a difference in so short a time! Can’t wait for the 4wk bloods
(tried to twist my GP’s arm to do a 2 week – just to see if I’d hit UND yet – but she wouldn’t budge lol)

ALT 26Hey, LG! Been absent from the forums due to a lack of net connection (and I haven’t got long to go on this one but should be back to normal next week), so have been trying to catch up, at least a bit. Fantastic news that you have now kicked off on tx and are doing so well I only got the ‘speedy’ side effect for a couple of days, but I’d enjoy it while you have it…and we aren’t used to having such energy huh lol. Just want to wish you all the best, fingers crossed

ALT 26Many apologies for being late to your party too, Debs heh. Great to hear you have started treatnent now, and have such a positive reaction already – and it can only get better from here All the best and fingers crossed for you

ALT 26Melatonin has worked well for me in the past. Unless the laws have changed in the meantime, I believe we can only access the crap homeopathic variety over-the-counter in Aust; I used to import it from overseas which was no problem.

ALT 26Hey great to hear how well you are all doing, LG, Ariel & Chejai Sorry to give you a combined greeting, but I’m not on a permanent net connection atm heh. Particularly glad to hear how you’re experiencing increased appetities and energy now, awesome stuff. Think I might have put a bit on too (got the same ‘you’ve lost weight remarks at the Pain Clinic a couple of weeks ago lol) without eating more, so I think the stress on our systems involved in continually fighting to keep VLs under control had a lot to do with it.
Onward and upward from here, guys!

ALT 26Thanks for sharing your background and story Chejai…no wonder you’ve come up against a whole shedload of different feelings since starting tx – now you’re finally on the road its not surprising you’ve had to take stock of everything that’s happened in the past. We are all having to play catch-up both physically and emotionally I think.
Great that you are finally on the path to regaining that life, which none of us thought we would have…when your view has been so narrowed it is going to take some adjustment to see a ‘future’ for sure

ALT 26Really pleased to hear it Ariel! I know you were a bit reticent given your previous hellish tx experience – great that you are feeling on the upswing now. Onward from here

ALT 26Hmmm my plan is still to go quantitative at 4wks, then again at EOT because I’m providing info for Redemption-2 (though it turned out I couldn’t be an “official” trial participant after all lol I am submitting the stats) Qualitative at 4/8/12 SVR (with luck)
As GAJ says, don’t think you have anything to be concerned about Jaz…a 6wk test sounds like a good idea. You’re going to be going in the right direction, whatever the specific numbers.
Hey great to hear you’re off and running now, Chejai! Look forward to hearing how you get on

ALT 26Hi Chejai and Ariel, thanks very much for the well wishes. Haven’t had an operational phone line most of the week, so am in the local library catching up atm (might be a bit of an ask to get around all the threads lol)
Great to hear you’re both starting tx soon…seriously you don’t need to have any worries (particularly if you’re thinking about previously failed treatments) Gotta say apart from a couple of days it has been completely uneventful…just passed the two week mark yesterday. don’t seem to have the commonly reported insomnia either, and only the most occasional liver twinges, headaches kept mostly at bay with heaps of water (my kidneys have never had such a workout heh) Hard to believe its working with so few side effects really!- but I’m presuming its all still kicking on inside
End of Jan will be the test, at 4 weeks – really looking forward to seeing what numbers come up
