Hi
I’m GT3a 6 weeks into 12 week tx. I’ve read some info that refers to 3a & relapse due to GT 3a being a bit tricky to clear.
Are there any GT3a’s out there who were on 12wk but are now considering upping the anti and extending another 4 or so weeks as a safe guard.?
Also, how are the guys that have finished treatment feeling?
The only real side I’ve experienced during treatment is I a feel a little more fatigued than usual. Nothing to write home about thou, totally able to function, work etc. feel fortunate for that.I’m not sure how to enter my stats so I’ve

Your stats indicate a 97% chance of SVR which is pretty good. (G3 chances drop quickly compared to others as fibrosis increases and with prior Tx which is why I’m on the highest Tx level). I’ll leave it to others with more experience of your situation to comment about extending treatment.
You may also want to consider Dr James post here though I’m not sure if it is case specific or applicable to all G3s. http://fixhepc.com/forum/gt3/861-alt-ast-ratio.html#14152

10 April 2016 at 6:02 am #15167Thanks for getting back to me Gaj,
I’ll have a look at Dr Freemans link. Also thanks for qik Stats entering lesson I’ll see if I’ve done it correctly.I have chatted to Dr Freeman he said an additional 4 wks wouldn’t hurt for peace of mind.
I’d believe and do anything Dr James said
(I was more wondering if anyone else was thinking about extending)
He also said he would see what comes out of
The Liver conference . I believe this is held in Spain this year and starts on the 13 April. I read
Something about this on Dear Greg Jefferies blog. He was on his way to the conference.

Start 19.5.1610 April 2016 at 6:18 am #15168Without knowing your full history, and based on what’s in your signature you should be ok on 12 but the odds of SVR are improved significantly by longer treatment. If extending out to 16-18-24 weeks would not overburden your finances it is worth doing with GT3.
YMMV

Start 19.5.1610 April 2016 at 10:59 am #15177Hi there HTRJ –
I have a friend who is GT 3 and extending his treatment, he hasn’t decided for how long, but has ordered a further 12 weeks meds. He was UND at 4 weeks and his bloods weren’t as good as yours , VL higher and says he thinks he’s had it 40 years+ – So this is his take on it. ie Hit it the hardest you can first time treating.
I believe some of us GT1as who have carried the virus a long time may well be a bit tricky too. My own VL was slow to come down and I am extending tx for 12 weeks. (Sofo/DAC)
I send you my very best wishes for success, you certainly have a great chance of this

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepC10 April 2016 at 1:02 pm #15180Hi Londongirl,
Thanks for responding.
I was originally diagnosed ’96..routine tests due to unexplained fatigue. & weight loss…in hindsight the weight loss was prob due to the relationship issues I was having at the time…Anyway, I’m off track…
I will take these posts on board and go for broke….feel so lucky to have the option to extend .

Start 19.5.1610 April 2016 at 4:44 pm #15186Hi HTRJ,
I am also a slower to respond 1a and I am doing an additonal 12 weeks of Sof/Dac following 12 weeks of Sof/Led. It is likely that technically a full 24 weeks is over treatment for me but I can’t deny the peace of mind factor. I am a bit conscious of the fact that I’ll need to go cold turkey in a couple of weeks.
Wishing you all the best with your treatment.
Coral10 April 2016 at 9:58 pm #15190HTRJ – I also lost alot of weight pre treatment, was positively skeletal, had fatigue, memory loss and inflamed joints, so it may not have been just stress in your case. Thankfully I’ve put some back on, but could do with a bit more. Yes, we are lucky to have the option to extend indeed
Hi Coral, how are you feeling after all those weeks of meds? I feel better on the Sofo/Dac I must say, currently rather zippy
Yes, we get used to the comfort of the drugs I think Be kind to yourself

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepC11 April 2016 at 2:18 pm #15216Hi LG,
I haven’t really noticed very much difference between the Harvoni and now the Sof/Dac apart from the weird period of dry hair that I had on the former but who knows as it may have been caused by something else. I have been lucky with few side effects and even though I was a bit slower to respond I think I could really notice how much better I felt by 12 weeks. We are lucky to be able to do another 12 weeks but know I definately have to stop then!
Great that you are feeling better LG. Wishing you continued zippyness!
12 April 2016 at 6:22 am #15276Hi HTRJ,
I am G3a with similar stats to yours. I’m 11 weeks into treatment. From what I read, mostly here, I thought 12 weeks would be fine. I hadn’t heard that people were going longer. I’m tx naïve, had fairly low VL & went UND @ 4 weeks. Your note + Dr. James’ response makes me think twice though. I have the funds but I don’t think I could get the next batch before EOT in 5 days. Not to mention I have a 6 day trip planned & set to leave on the day tx is done. What a drag to second guess this.
If I’d seen this a week or so ago I guess I’d probably buy more. Maybe do 4 more weèks.
Cheers

I was just reading your post and was going to copy & paste info from Dr Freeman for you re: halving daily dose whilst u were waiting for a new order to be delivered…but I can see you found the relevant posts!!!..I hope it times well for you I.e ordering/trip away/delivery…
I’ve also been away..just got back which means, although I’m still 5 wks away from EOT I’ll be actively looking at ordering more..just not sure whether to order an additional 4 – 8 or 12 weeks supply … Even thou it appears it can’t do any harm going full throttle I still feel a little lost on making the decision…
What did or at you thinking to do?

Start 19.5.1613 April 2016 at 6:30 pm #15423Hi Hit The Road,
Thanks for your well wishes. Timing for 1/2 doses will work out fine for my timeline. They estimated through a “Fibrosure” (blood tests) that I am F1-F2. So, even though I think 12 weeks was enough, I figure if I go another 4 weeks that’s a little extra insurance. But I ordered 6 more weeks worth. I might take it all but right now I feel like 16 weeks should do it. I didn’t even consider going another 12. I just think that would be overkill. For one thing, I’m a pretty small person & I figure my dosing is on the heavy side already because of it.
Cheers
