I finished SofoDac treatment 26th of March. Everything seems to be good, test said Not detected. New test scheduled for the end of June.
My wife and I, we want to have a baby. How long do I have to wait to be sure my semen is good and not polluted by these medicines? My wife is pushing me real hard.

Congratulations Miodrag on your undetected result, that’s great, looking forward to your cure announcement in June :+1: :+1: I know that a couple of months after end of treatment, there is no trace of the medication in the patient’s system.

Thanks a lot. I hope for the best in June. I will do the test June 28th, my birthday.

You’re very welcome Miodrag, I hope your next birthday becomes a major party, the odds are really in your favor.
Dr James has written before : “when the patient finishes taking the treatment, the medication rapidly leaves his/her system. Within a day there is only 1/2 as much left, in 2 days 1/4, 3 days 1/8, 4 days 1/16, 5 days 1/32, 6 days 1/64 and so on. After a couple of months, there is no trace of the medication in the patient’s system”.
I’m pretty sure by “couple of months”, he means 2 months, at the most.

    Hello Miodrag,

The quick answer is sperm take 74 days (about 10 weeks) to grow from nothing to ready to go.

The drugs leave your system very quickly and are almost completely gone in 2 weeks with less than 1/10,000th left. There is less than 1/1,000,000th left after 3 weeks.

So at the SVR12 cure result (at about 13 weeks) you will have had no drugs in your system for 3 weeks + 10 weeks to make brand new sperm so you could celebrate that date in two ways.

    YMMV
