Hi all, I just realize i got a HEP C Gene 6 while I have my body check last 2 years. And the medicine is too expensive that i cannot afford at all. Luckily i found this web from a Malaysia forum, the news about HEP C is too little in our country. I am so lost. My doctor told me: 1. it is very difficult to cure, because you are gene 6, that is less then 10 case in malaysia, so not much doctor doing research on the G6 field... 2. the medicine and treatment is very expensive 3.if i wanna start the treatment, it is better i cut down my weight , i am 115kg, 175cm, the doctor ask me to loss weight until 80KG only can start the treatment, if not i just waster money. I am eating healthy, exercise and no more alcohol. but it is difficult to get down to 80kg in a short time. I just wanna check, can i still get the pills and start my treatment or it is a must for me to slim down first? Thank you so much for answer this.

Welcome ahmonz, It is true that genotype 6 is less common in most countries and therefore the research level has been lower in patient numbers but that research shows that it responds to these new drugs as well as other genotypes when the appropriate medication for your genotype is used. Generic medications are available at far more reasonable prices than the branded versions and are available from FixhepC for approx. US$1500-1600 per 3 month treatment. fixhepc.com/getting-treated/how-to-do-it.html With the old style interferon/ribavirin treatments body weight was recognised as an indicator of likelihood of success but my understanding is that it has minimal/very small impact on successful treatment with these new direct acting antivirals....but there could be other reasons your doctor wants you to lose weight prior to treatment? G3a since '78 - Dx '12 - F4 (2xHCC) 24wk Tx - PEG/Riba/Dac 2013 relapsed 24wk Tx - Generic Sof/Dac/Riba 2015/16 relapsed 16wk Tx - 12/01/17 -> 03/05/17 NS3/NS5a + Generic Sof SVR7 - 22/06/17 UND SRV12 - 27/07/17 UND SVR24 - 26/10/17 UND The following user(s) said Thank You: ahmonz

Weight makes no difference to cure rate We have 100% success in GT6 with Sofosbuvir Daclatasvir but sample is only 6/6 - so 6 patients total. So it is possible and cure is likely YMMV

Thanks for your reply, Gaj & Dr Freeman! My doctor wanna use the old style interferon/ribavirin treatments to treat me, because the new treatment is not yet launch here. and the people here is getting their medicine from fixhepc.com if wanna try the new medicine. I think that is the reason he ask me to slim down. But i know the old treatment is not going to cure my hep C G6, because the doctor say it is difficult to handle G6, they never have this in Malaysia. and i can only afford government hospital, means they will only give what they have, and not looking to the new medicine at all. If my liver fat problem not slowing down the effective of the Twinvir , can i start to use it ? I got fat liver, hep C G6, HCV RNA quantitive 419800 IU/ML, AST 67, ALT 144, but no cirrhosis (base on ultrasound) And i got diabetes, will it be a concern to take this pill? Planning to get Twinvir (Sofosbuvir 400mg / Ledipasvir 90mg), but i dont know 12 week is good enough? Worry it will be relapsed... Thanks for all your reply and comment. Hi Ahmonz, It is good that you are going to get your G6 treated. What medications do you take for your diabetes? G2, infected maybe in 1971? Diagnosed HVnon-A non-B 1980s, revised to HVC 1990's. Treatment naive. Fibroscan & bloods all normal ranges. Viral load 7million, began Redemption trial4, 12-week generic Sof/Vel (Incepta) 2017. Week 4 UND, Week 12UND, SVR24 Thank-yous to my doctor for the script, to Jan at FixHepC for wrangling, and to Dr Freeman for courage. Kia kaha e hoa ma!

Either Sofosbuvir/Ledipasvir or Sofosbuvir/Daclatasvir should work. I would advise Sofosbuvir/Daclatasvir if it is available, but either is good. Incepta make both Twinvir and Corevigen In terms of duration, unless you have cirrhosis then 12 weeks should be good. What are you platelets? From that we can calculate APRI score and advise duration. YMMV

Hi Mnem, i am taking froxiga 10mg and Diamide (Gilbenclamide 5mg + Metfomin HC 500mg). i should take injection as well, but i stop it because can control the blood sugar after adding forxiga. but sometimes still have bad reading. depends on the diet. The following user(s) said Thank You: Mnem

Dr Freeman, My platelets is 204. For ultrasound checking, the doctor say no cirrhosis for now. (check by ultrasound should be ok? ) And will the liver fat going to slow down the effect of Corevigen? if not i think i will start it asap. Thank you so much! this website and forum really help me a lot! and make me confidence after reading all sharing ! Cheers, Mon The following user(s) said Thank You: Iain

Forxiga (Dapagliflozin) is a SGLT2 inhibitor, good to know this has been helping you with your diabetes G2, infected maybe in 1971? Diagnosed HVnon-A non-B 1980s, revised to HVC 1990's. Treatment naive. Fibroscan & bloods all normal ranges. Viral load 7million, began Redemption trial4, 12-week generic Sof/Vel (Incepta) 2017. dear doctor Freeman: I already contact Alimul from Incepta. He said they do not have Corvigen anymore. Due to low demand. So I got three choice from him: 1. Get separate pills (Hopetavir for Sofosbuvir and Virodacla for Daclatasvir) 2. Use new pills Panovir (Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir) 3. He can help to manage to get Darvoni (Sofosbuvir 400mg / Daclatasvir 60mg) from beacon. I am not so sure which one is the best choice ? Please , need advise! Thank you agin for helping me so much ! And all of you who share your info in the forum! Many thanks !
