Chalk up another win for Mesochem !
After 24 weeks of their well known and highly regarded sofosbuvir and ledipasvir, followed by 12 weeks of stressful waiting, my GP finally gave me a request for a VL test. The results are now to hand, and it says 'NOT DETECTED'. That is SVR12. And that is officially cured!
And just as well. After the opposition and white-anting I got from my friendly local liver clinic about generics, I didn't bother to mention to them that I was treating myself with 'Chinese rat poison'. So I'm still on the waiting list for PBS treatment. I don't know what this "PBS roll out" is all about, but it certainly hasn't yet rolled as far as Adelaide.
The closest I've got to PBS treatment was last March, when the liver clinic called me in for an interview and the great big specialist told me that when I got to the head of the queue he was going to treat me with 12 weeks of Harvoni and ribavirin. "But don't worry about the ribavirin" he said "It doesn't have any side effects. You only felt sick last time because of the interferon". Yeah, right.
Thank dog I never have to deal with that bunch of quacks again.
