I am sourcing for more info and whereabouts to purchase a generic harvoni. My dad is the one that needs the medication.

The specialist here in malaysia have given him some contacts for shipping in the generics. The first one which I am probably not going to mention has quoted my dad 2.5k USD for 12 weeks of supply. He was shocked and sent the email to me and I was also very curious, and so then down the rabbit hole I go, finding every single info on what this harvoni, gilead and so on are trying to do.

Long story short, right now, were got a 2nd email straight from Dr Reddy themselves. And they quoted us this:

Rs 16000 per bottle of 28tabs and courier charges will be Rs 3000. So it means 51k RS (for 12 weeks inclusive of shipping) convert to USD is 762 USD. I've also been reading on lots of articles, and Greg has been saying anything less than the market price of 1.3k USD coming from India is most likely a scam.

But I just can't find anything in the email that was fake. I've also verified the domain, and it is indeed coming from This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. (which is where we sent, and it was replied from).

I have since then contacted Greg, and he directed me to his blog post about the Indian Scams.

So now, I would like to hear from you guys. What do you think about this situation? I really wanted to proceed with it, but the problem being 'it's too cheap, it must be scam' thing keeps popping up my head.

If it hasn't been vetted and or approved on here or by Greg I wouldn't buy it. You're not saving that much, if any. Go with Greg or fixhepc trusted and proven sources, theres just no good reason to buy from an unknown, non proven supplier. If Greg or the folks on here say they're ok, then good. But there are multiple proven suppliers on here already vetted so why are you even considering an unproven source?

I cannot comment on this particular seller as I have never heard of them, sorry.
It always makes me wonder why anyone would not take a trusted route that is shared by many others.
I do understand that price may be a concern, but these are powerful medicines for a serious condition and my personal feeling is, buy medicines for your father through someone who has supply chain integrity.

Meanwhile, apart from the most secure option, which would be the Fix HepC Buyers Club, the Redemption Trials or Greg J, there are discussions re suppliers on this forum in 'Pharmas Market'. Putting your father's GenoType & short treatment history in your profile would also help others here to advise you correctly.

I would phone their main office (all their offices' contact details are available on their website), and get their Sales to confirm the price and verify the agent who offered you the product at that price.

rightly said 2b. You are not saving much and does not make sense going for anything that does not have a recommendation of the moderators here on fixhepc or the buyers club.

and what exactly is a humbuk? pretty sure that's like trying to call me a scammer or someone trying to raise positive image for the company?

and thanks to you, i have received 2 negative karmas. i don't know what has the world come to, we all have our own situation, so i'd rather not start a war here in this forum when life is at stake here.

but i am very angry and disappointed for people that did that to me, which i really want to vent out my anger, but i shall hold it.

Anyone that has sense, and the mod can see all my actions, that i have not done anything wrong apart from what seemed like a double post. but i have since then brought the convo to the correct thread and i'll leave that to the mod's desicion on what he shall do with this one.

As for just joining us here:WELCOME!!
Everyone here "just joined" at some point. As for someone selling something like this for half price: I wouldn't go near it. Its like in the construction business: you get 10 bids on a project and one is half the amount of the next lowest bidder. I would reject that one immediately.

I know nothing about Dr. Reddy. What I do know is that an Indian can buy generic Harvoni for $4 a pill or $336 for a 12 week tx. So, here is a source who is selling abroad for twice that amount. I have no clue what is going on, but I DO know that millions of Indians have HCV and many if them are desperately poor and can't afford the $4 price. I am pretty sure there are some people who could find a way to make money given that particular set of circumstances.

I think too that the cost far lower than 12USD. Thus I agree that 750 USD for 12 weeks is possible. But I dont know for reliability of such suppliers.

The below does not relate to the Dr Reddys issue directly but represents my thoughts on some of the prices being quoted here.

Agree about reliability of suppliers being a concern but I also think there are other issues involved. I suspect the prices being quoted are taken from the article linked in this thread - fixhepc.com/forum/media-news/530-drug-th...-for-5-in-india.html

A couple of points about this article:

The drug being discussed is named as Sofosbuvir not Harvoni, so will be cheaper anyway. The min price quoted is as low as $4.29 so not a standard price although there is some speculation that it may go lower with time. That quoted value is the cost if a village of 200 people successfully negotiates directly with the drug company (no middle man or distributor profits) for exclusive treatment for that village. That is, it is a marketing share driven bulk deal not a normal street price and should not be compared with the pricing for buying one treatment for an individual.

Now, it may be that some of the drugs sourced this way end up on the black market at below the going rates but in that case there is the very real possibility that this will result in an Indian with hep not being treated because either someone scammed them or alternatively they or someone else made the difficult decision that feeding the family was more important than being cured.

Just something to consider when discussing Indian prices although I'm sure we would all like to see lower prices worldwide.
