Blood tests throughout tx 7 years 10 months ago #16682

I'm just wondering if it's totally necessary to have so many blood tests
done through out Tx or are they done more as personal means to alliviate the anxiety of knowing the medication is doing its thing.

I totally understand baseline tests etc need doing but is anyone able to pls confirm which ones are the most important for 12wks extended to 16wks treatment.

hello
I noted in your signature that you were UND at 4 weeks and so I would suggest that there is no need for further blood tests until SVR12 with perhaps a poor man's bloods (LFT) drawn at SVR4 as an indicator to confirm all is on track. Unless of course PCR is required by your doctor as a record for trial results.

Just my opinion, but the only tests needed are -
- pre Tx
- during Tx until UND*
- SVR4 (less essential)
- SVR12

*Personally I had a test at 4 weeks into TX which showed Detected <LLOQ so had a subsequent one at 7 weeks which showed Undetected. If Undetected at 4 weeks I would not have had the 7 week one.
SVR12 is the one that really matters.
