Should I start treatment 8 years 2 weeks ago #18835
I got my medication and was keen to start treatment this weekend. My Consultant said that I should stay close by in the UK in case of any adverse reactions. The problem is that I would be on holiday in Spain (on a boat) on the second week of treatment if I start now. Should i wait until I get back? I felt at least being on holiday while on treatment would mean I could rest if need be. 2 wk: VL UND, ALT 30 37K RNA, ALT 486 Tx begin 20 July 2016 Tx naive The following user(s) said Thank You: Matt-Kenney-google, fitz

I don't know what meds you will be taking, but most people tolerate the DAAs with few, if any, issues. I was concerned that the drugs weren't working due to the lack of side effects. I would go. m This email address is being protected from spambots. my consultant advised staying local in the UK for 2 weeks if nothing happens in the first two weeks then she would be less worried she did say that as the don't prescribe much Harvoni on the NHS they are still not familiar will a broad range of side effects, etc 2 wk: VL UND, ALT 30 37K RNA, ALT 486 Tx begin 20 July 2016 Tx naive The following user(s) said Thank You: fitz

| That's what I'm currently on. I'm 1/2 way through tx JF, and nothing of any significance to report on sdfx. Mike and are the average here. I can confirm what he says about most people's toleration of DAA's side effects. Go raibh maith agat! (Thanks in Gaelic) Hmmm, I've read about the side effects and was worried that everyone had some. It's good to hear there may be none. Could I be so lucky too? 2 wk: VL UND, ALT 30 37K RNA, ALT 486 Tx begin 20 July 2016 Tx naive The following user(s) said Thank You: fitz | |

I would go. I was worried about sides before I started. I did get some headaches the first week but when I started drinking extra water, thanks to advice from people on this forum, they went away. I was very active during treatment. Well I would go on the Spanish holiday but delay starting the harvoni till I got back. I took it and had few side effects but you will naturally attribute every upset tummy/illness to the harvoni, if you take it while in Spain. Imagine if you get bad upset stomach or intense headaches and face a decision of stopping the harvoni even temporarily, what a dilemma and the specialist is far away. (I am assuming you are in reasonable health.) M, 57, Live in Wellington,NZ. Genotype 1a diagnosed in 2013. Treating for the first time since October 31 with Buyers Club Sof/Led. Thanks so much guys. Minimal side effects apart from sore throat at the start.. Viral load 5.4m when treatment started, Undetected at 4 weeks, 8 weeks, End of Treatment and 12-weeks post EOT. Yay!

| Hi I took generic form Sof/Led. Had a bit of insomnia and a few headaches here and there but drinking water soon got rid of the headaches and the insomnia didn't bother me at all because my energy levels were very good once I started taking the meds. It ultimately is up to you whether you go on your trip or postpone however the side effects I had were very mild. Enjoy your holiday Lives in Bendigo, Victoria No prior treatment Genotype 1b Fibroscan 0 (only showed a bit of a fatty liver) Diagnosed in February 2015 Currently on my last week of treatment taking led/sof Last LFT normal Insomnia the only side effect Undetected at 4 weeks SVR4 - undetected - all bloods good and GP very happy SVR12 bloods to be done at end of April 2016 SVR12 - undetected!!! |

Yeah, I started June 1st and although my vision got a bit blurry at times it was really nada. An occasional headache but that was nothing as well. The only sx that I really felt was the first two days, I felt pain in my legs, like I had been hiking all day the day before I started. It was noticeable but I just felt like it was the Harvoni attacking my viral load. It worked out great, my feet and ankles used to swell up daily, haven't had any of that since the day I started. If you're gonna be taking a vacation, go for it! That's what I'd do. G1a dx'd in 1992, Biopsy F2 VL 8mill +. Tried tx with Interferon/Riba, back in 2008 didn't last long it felt horribly ugly!! I stopped tx, after 5 weeks!! Started tx 6/1/16 with Harvoni. 12 Month Labs= UND The following user(s) said Thank You: Matt-Kenney-google, fitz

My two cents .... I traveled to get the meds and started as soon as I got them. No problems for me. Many people, myself included, have reported an energy bump early in treatment ... seems to be roughly the second through fourth or fifth week. Imagine being on vacation while you're experiencing an energy boost! There is, however, a very frequent reporting, again myself included, of various forms of insomnia about that same time frame. For most it is a tendency to wake early (like BOOM ... I'm wide awake!) and not be able to get back to sleep again until evening. Personally, I'd go!

thanks, everyone. I am keen to get started although a little apprehensive of side effects. The energy boost sounds great, especially waking up awake. Currently, I feel groggy in the morning. 2 wk: VL UND, ALT 30 37K RNA, ALT 486 Tx begin 20 July 2016 Tx naive The following user(s) said Thank You: Matt-Kenney-google
