Hi Tgirl, can you clarify a few things.

Are you being treated by the NHS with the sob/riba option or have you got a script too buy generics?

The answer too the above will clarify why they wrote a 12 week script.

If the NHS is funding your treatment they are offering you the cheapest option I don't know
Dac is available on the NHS yet it may well not be.

No definitive advice. Lots of suggestions.
I thought I already said I was in the UK and my clinic was offering me a "cure".
Anyway I am going to take the offer. It may work and if it doesn't I intend to visit India later in the year.

It is difficult to be definitive as we are not your prescribing physician but it appears that Daclatasvir is not approved for GT2 by the NHS which would be why you have not been offered it.

Daclatasvir is available as a generic at reasonable cost without needing to travel to India and could possibly be added to your NHS treatment (taking the Riba would then be optional). I believe the last two posters are in the UK and may be able to provide guidance about how that would be viewed by NHS and/or what your best options are.

Hi Tgirl most of us here have been fortunate enough to have our tx supplied via Dr J and team at FixHepC. Some of us have, like you gained scripts privately but they were filled by James or Greg.
Hence these inquiries by friends as to the source of you script, where you were hoping to source your meds and so on. I understand the questions friends have asked to try to help you access the best fit for you.
You answer you had "no definitive advice" but remember Dr J directed you to the information you asked for.
I hope you have it sorted now. This site is excellent for accessing the most effective tx for your individual geno and prior tx and liver and bloodwork status going in.
Good luck on your reaching treatment status these meds work and are frankly a miracle.
You don't need to travel to India. See Gaj reply as well. That's if you follow the Idea of obtaining Dac.
Someone else here can describe the importing process to you I am in Australia but many on these meds are based all around the globe on this site.
It was easy enough for me and I am UND now and in tx still so where there's a will there's a way.

The OP has said her treatment is being done on the NHS as such she has no private
script she can use to purchase generics.

I think the main issue is if she go's ahead and buys generics is how you explain to your consultant
you've decided too change one drug for another they may well decide not too offer anything.

I guess,the starting point is she has the conversation with her consultant explaining Dac is the best
option and she's willing to buy it that's of course if she is willing to buy generics, I think her initial
question was why the NHS is not offering Dac we have answered that question....its not available
on the NHS.
