Hi Everybody,
I just read the following information on the website of the Italian senate and (with my poor Italian language skills) it seems that Italy is on the path to open the gate for HCV generic drugs.
www.senato.it/japp/bgt/showdoc/showText?...isp&leg=17&id=981889
it is long text, better try reading it with Google Translate but in certain places it states:
.......
Meanwhile, at the ILC Congress 2016 European Association for the Study of the Liver, for the first time, it was presented the study "Redemption", which demonstrates the absolute effectiveness and safety of generic HCV oral treatments produced under license of pharmaceutical companies drug holders licensed by the FDA and EMA for international markets; (So the Italian Senate knows about REDEMPTION !!!! )
......
commits the Government:
1) to enable, at the earliest, the experimentation, in order to introduce in Italy one or more valid generic drugs, and not just a brand, for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) in all its stages severity;
2) to conclude a memorandum of understanding for the trial in volunteers between the Ministry of Health and the manufacturers of generics.
Is it known how much time such a study takes? Is it months or years?
Any way, for sure the results will be positive, so entrance of HCV generic drugs on one European country seems to occur in the near/mid term future.
P.S. If you have time and patience to read all the text you will find quite interesting statements.
Cheers,
RHF
