This is quite fresh: does EU give a hand to generics (in general)....
www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getDoc.do?p...040+0+DOC+XML+V0//EN

There is quite some text to read, but it is interesting to see that EU has become better about the important role played by generic medicines. HCV is also mentioned in couple of places.
Cheers,
RHF
In fiecare an HCV ucide peste 500000 oameni.Medicamentele generice pentru hepatita C functioneaza. Nu deveni statistica! Cauta pe Google “medicamente generice pentru hepatita C”.
HCV kills more than 500000 people every year. HCV generic drugs work. Don't become a statistic.

And this from Nature (01 March 2017):

"Hepatitis C drugs re-energize global fight over patents

Lawsuits in India and Argentina seek to reduce drug costs by allowing generic versions of antiviral treatments."

The related story on "America's Drug Problem" (Nature Biotechnology, 14 November 2016) is also worth looking at:

There is quite a vibrant comments section.
