Hello. This is My first time on Fix Hep C ! GT 2 5 years 4 months ago #27274

My name is Robert I have genotype 2. This is my first time posting. I'm working with a gastro enterologist. Have done all my testing all I have left kisses CT which I'm doing next week. And I hope to go on some kind of medication I don't know what soon. Would be interested in hearing from anyone with similar situation I believe IV drug use was the original cause. Although I have been clean for many decades. There's a good chance I contracted it 30 years ago. I really appreciate that all of you were out there and that I'm not doing this alone. Bob out

Welcome Bobraas!
I had geno 3, not 2, but also for over 30 years. I got cured here, 3 years since I started treatment. Life for me divides sharply into "before" and "after'" because I had no idea I would feel so much better, when cured.
Looking forward to hearing that happening for you.
Genotype 3 30 years, 2x treatment interferon/ribavirin non responder. Cirrhosis 17 years. Fibroscan, decompensating, 40 down to 22 by 29/3/16- now down to 6.5, normal, no cirrhosis. Started Buyers Club Sof/Dac 14 Nov 15. SVR 12 29/0716

Welcome to the forum Bobraas :) . It has never been easier to get rid of Hep C as it is right now. With cure rates north of 90% with the new medications, and the availability of high quality generics (if insurance denies treatment), you made a great decision. As Hazel said, life for patients divides sharply into "before" and "after" because of how much better they feel after being cured, best of luck to you.

Welcome Robert,

It's great to have you here. On the good news front, GT2 is the pick of the bunch in terms of cure rates. Even the old Sovaldi+Ribavirin managed 97% but Sovaldi+Daklinza (the cheapest generic), Epclusa (also available as a generic) and Maviret (no generic) all do an even better job of getting rid of it.

You should definitely chase insurance funded medication, but if you can't get that generics that do the same job can easily be sourced and delivered into most countries around the world.

Good luck with the CT, hopefully that will show your liver is still in pretty good shape so once we get rid of the virus you can expect some significant health improvements.
YMMV

Hi bobraas and welcome,

I had G1 but also had the virus for more than 3 decades. In those last few years the burden of carrying the virus became heavy and the cost to my mental and physical health very high. Like many people I found the cure and the support through FixHepC and even now my overall health continues to improve.

I'm looking forward to reading your posts. We'll be with you.
