Public education is vital to America. An educated electorate is a primary requirement of successful democracy. Since it is so important, the government manages it.
Our highway systems are vital for commerce and national security. Turning a 4 lane interstate into an 8 lane (including the shoulders), one way super highway is a great way to move an entire military division or evacuees from a hurricane very efficiently. Those systems are built and maintained by the government.
Is the health of the population not so important?
Obama gets a health reform law passed and all the Republicans are interested in is repealing it instead of running the country..
Very, very sad.
Then, you have Trump…..

15 April 2016 at 8:57 am #15516Amen! Id like to take this opportunity to express on this forum what was not printed from an interview I had Back in Late Dec 2015 and my my thoughts of Daa’s.
” As a sufferer of Hepatitis C I was elated to know that I had the opportunity to cure myself a a virus that would have my life end before its time.Sofosbuvir is a celebration of what has to be one of this century’s greatest medical breakthroughs up there with the likes of like the Polio vaccination. This drug is lifesaving and it can save MY life along-with 150 million others. Gilead Sciences has deliberatley chosen to make over thirty billion dollars rather than being a fair and reasonable care taker of this most wonderful gift to humanity . As a consequence of their greed in New Zealand, a 12 week course of Havoni is eighty four thousand dollars for a pill that costs less than a couple of dollars to make.
Fuck me and they have been getting away with it!
Sofosbuvir is a gift to humanity and Gilead have profiteered over a drug that was first discovered funded by the American Taxpayer.I am dumbstruck that this company is celebrated within the higher ranks – the one percent eg Forbes and The Wall Street Journal. There are no words for my anger for this type of carry on from a pharmaceutical giant. Its high time that the patent laws around groundbreaking medicine that has the very real potential to eliminate one of the world top 5 killers be re examined with urgency.
Thank you James and Greg for sticking it to them as well as help all of us get our lives back with genric’s.

Got that right Mike!! I have something else for Big “G”!!!!

12 Month Labs= UND17 April 2016 at 6:36 am #15612Hi Joy,
while I have not conducted any great research into this type of apparent greed, I have noticed many times that with greed, it has no moral compass, and later in the piece, there appears to have been some legal wrong doing as well.
Maybe an example is that other fellow who attracted the attention of the FBI. His problems with the law apparently were not about the pills he hiked the price on, but with other make money quick (and illegal) schemes he had going as well/before.
From this I assume that having no moral compass makes you more likely to have a broken legal one as well. And having a lot of money made quick and maybe invested overseas in certain countries that have expertise in minding cash so that it is safe from robbers and thieves (and possibly Tax Offices) is a safety net when the police come knocking.
I did originally quote your posting but deleted the whole quote so that people do not assume these comments are made about anyone in particular.
Only just saying ‘maybes’ about all this, BUT what do these chaps tell their kids and family – do they actually talk about what they do, or resort to looking at the floor if someone asks?
Yours
J.

Yes, if you read this
http://fixhepc.com/blog/item/26-pharma-scores-rap-drug-cover-ups.html
You will note that according to an article published in the British Medical Journal Open section the Gilead HIV drug Stribild was approved on the basis of 21% (7/34) of the 34 trials were conducted.
One interpretation is that unfavourable results those 27 trials led to them being deliberately hidden and, if that turned out to be the case it would seem to be fraud. The scientific fraud would be one thing, but a drug approved on the basis of inaccurate data would then lead to payments being made for something that does not work as advertised.
YMMV
18 April 2016 at 12:26 am #15694In March 2012 a certain mermaid was plonked on peginf with only test a VL of 420,000. By 2013/4 she had turned private activist seeking to change the state of play in big pharma as she had learned from that bungle. She found Gilead among others
Here is the reply to my lobbying from Gilead. See I am only a minnow in this pond.I have vaguely mentioned my lobbying before well it has been real, constant and includes my full story, the fiscal story of this illness that I projected if it went untreated and so on. I’m including my reply from Greediad written 16/10/2014 to me

7/07/16 UND SVR 2419 April 2016 at 12:50 am #15758Well those salaries are school teaching salaries here Mike! That’s typical of Greediad (I love that new name for them)
Even the way they market themselves is vile. Back when I was writing on behalf of the Australian hepC population as you saw in my letter reply, Sept 2014, Gilead were repackaging their pitch to investors
I’m popping in a screenshot it’s pretty pathetic they are everything you say yes. If I could include my letter to them it would make more sense the reply but I would disclose too much personal stuff on a public forum. Thanks Mike for the links -
