I was wondering if anyone has come across any generic tx friendly liver clinics in Sydney.
    Anyone found any?
Thanks, & good luck to everyone. :)

Apparently RPA has been acommodating to certain patients who have accessed meds privately, but it seems to be predicated on their “triage-level of need”, ie those a bit worse off clinically – I was told no you don’t need to look at generics, just wait for the PBS scheduling (which will never be accessible for everyone across the board, imo)

But now I am in the very fortunate position of being able to obtain DAAs, maybe I should just go back and put them on the spot about it – they can only refuse to support me – in which case it will be up to me & my GP.

Hi, so you are looking for treatment management, ie you already have a script? If so, someone on Greg Jefferys’ blog spoke highly of the Prince of Wales on October 15:

    “Hi Greg,
I have had great results after only 8 days of using the meds.
All my liver functions are now back to normal.
I have not done the viral load yet, next week I’m due for another blood test so might ask the nurse to include that test.
St. Vincent’s Hospital (Sydney) have been really horrible so I moved to Prince of Wales under the care of the Head Nurse who is really wonderful. She mentioned she had been in contact with you…..”

    Hi, thanks for that.
If it was just for me, yeah, I’d try there, but this is for my son, so…. but he’s taller than me, so maybe they’d treat him as an adult.
I will only need someone if there’s any problems I guess, but yeah, I think you should go back to them. :)

    Thank you.
I might contact the head nurse there, but would wait ’till I have the Harvoni in my hands, wont let myself get too excited ’till I actually have them!! Don’t want anything to go wrong.
I only need someone close by to see IF there’s a problem, but James is confident that there wont be any problems.
    So just have to hope….

Good idea CJ. Yes I’m not anticipating any problems either, but it would be good to have access to a bit of backup, even if you don’t end up needing it. It must very hard having a sick child, I wish you and your son all the best for a successful treatment…I’m sure he will do fine.

Hi I am a patient at the St Vincent’s clinic and have found them great. However my Gp told me they need to be extremely careful about how they approach this whole buyersclub thing. Due to hospital protocols. GPS have no such restrictions. That would explain why they aren’t prescribing.

That said I am sure they would no refuse treatment if you were to organise you own medication – but probably wouldn’t organise to do so in advance (IMO).

My Gp was impressed by the amt info available on the easl site and on this one for doctors, if that is any help……

Thanks lizziechan. I think you’re right, probably best to approach them when you already have the meds in hand…will get my GPs opinion, see what she advises.

Glad that things are going well for you at St Vincents
